Vertical Sales Manager, Higher Education - Smart Buildings

As the Vertical Sales Manager, Higher Education, you will lead a high-performing sales team dedicated to serving Higher Education institutions. You will drive disciplined sales execution, develop specialized pursuit strategies, and ensure strong alignment with Area Sales Managers to create a unified go-to-market model. Your team will act as subject matter experts in the Higher Education vertical - bringing deep knowledge of campus operations, funding realities, sustainability initiatives, and digital transformation opportunities. You will directly engage with key customers as an Executive Sponsor, guide the team to build strong, qualified pipelines, and drive meaningful year-over-year growth in this strategic vertical.
As the Vertical Sales Manager, Higher Education, you will:
- Lead and develop a high-performing sales team by recruiting, managing, and developing successful Sales Executives who are subject matter experts in the Higher Education market
- Ensure the team builds and maintains a strong, qualified pipeline of Higher Education opportunities
- Coach Sales Executives on qualification, pursuit, and closing strategies tailored to Higher Education customer needs
- Hold team members accountable and address underperformance promptly
- Drive vertical sales strategy and customer engagement by executing and championing defined sales processes, ensuring strong alignment with Area Sales Managers on all pursuit strategies, including shared “target lists”
- Engage directly with Higher Education customers as the Executive Sponsor for select strategic accounts
- Achieve progressive, year over year growth across the Higher Education sales portfolio
- Promote technical and portfolio excellence by providing technical depth and apply Siemens’ full suite of digital and physical Smart Infrastructure offerings to Higher Education customer needs
- Ensure the team stays current on our digital solutions and broader digital trends impacting the Higher Education sector
- Drive effective use of AI tools to refine sales approaches, increase productivity, and improve win rates
You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years of successful sales experience within the Higher Education vertical market
- 5+ years of sales leadership experience
- Knowledge and experience within the Higher Education market, including customer needs, decision‑making processes, and regulatory sensitivities
- Ability to conduct technical presentations and lead discovery workshops with Higher Education customers to develop tailored solutions
- Comfort with digital tools, sales automation technology, and AI‑enabled sales processes
- Willing and able to travel domestically between 25%-50%
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related
- Knowledge and experience within the commercial building automation, fire alarm, security systems, electrical or mechanical industries
- Experience selling large, complex systems solutions and service agreements
- Knowledge of Siemens Smart Infrastructure Buildings portfolio of solutions and services

The pay range for this position is $122,000 - $253,000 annually with a target incentive of 25% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
