Your new role – challenging and future-oriented

We are seeking an Innovative R&D Engineer specializing in Structural Integrity to join our Steam Turbine technology Research and Development team. He/She shall be responsible for driving the development and optimization of component designs specifically with lightweight materials such as composites, polymers etc. and using advanced manufacturing processes like AM suitable for high pressure – temperature applications.

  • Mechanical integrity of critical steam turbine / expander components including rotors, diaphragms, blades, casings, valve bodies, bolts, and welds using detailed FEA and analytical methods.
    • Evaluate damage mechanisms such as: Low-cycle and high-cycle fatigue, Creep and creep-fatigue interaction, Fracture Mechanics.
  • Prepare technical documentation: Integrity Assessments, Risk Analyses, Stress Reports, and Service Recommendations.
  • Expertise in simulating composites using layered shell, layered solid, or continuum shell elements.
  • Familiarity with failure criteria specialized for composites, such as Hashin, Tsai-Hill, Tsai-Wu, and Puck to predict fiber rupture, matrix cracking, and delamination.
  • Knowledge of simulation techniques for 3D-printed materials, including accounting for deposition orientation, porosity, and anisotropy in mechanical properties.

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field from any Govt. Engineering college) with CGPA > 8.0
  • Minimum 3-8 years of Engineering experience in Structural Integrity, Materials, Life Assessment criterions.
  • Strong theoretical fundamentals in material & strength of materials and understanding of Advanced Material Behaviors– This will be the key assessment point.
  • Experience of establishing product / components with Composites and AM (metal or polymer), preferably in an industrial/R&D setting.
  • Strong knowledge of DfAM principles, CAD (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA), and topology optimization tools (e.g., Ansys, Altair Inspire) will be hugely beneficial.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of standards (ASTM, ISO) and qualification procedures for AM parts (desirable).
