Sibiu is specialized in the production of electrical and electronic parts and components and electrical motors. As a member of the Siemens Corporation, SIMEA Sibiu takes advantage of cooperation with various divisions to ensure top quality, innovative solutions ad competitive prices on an international level.

We are now looking to expand our team in Sibiu, within the Smart Infrastructure – Electrical Products division by adding a Mechanical Design Engineer. This position is ideal for someone with a few years of relevant experience who is eager to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will join an experienced team, offering excellent opportunities to learn, grow, and further develop professionally.

Your Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of innovative mechanical solutions for production systems and special-purpose machinery.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and design solution-oriented concepts in the field of special production machines and production systems.
  • Support projects from initial concept through to final implementation, including layout design, cost estimation, and proposal preparation, in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Create 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings in compliance with relevant standards, considering existing components, cost efficiency, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and the Center of Competence for Mechanics.
  • Coordinate and manage external development partners.
  • Request and evaluate quotations, negotiate conditions, and coordinate assembly, acceptance, and transport activities.
  • Provide technical support during system assembly, commissioning, ramp-up, and customer acceptance.
  • Participate actively in design and process FMEA.
  • Ensure functionality, quality, and on-time delivery of mechanical design projects.
  • Contribute to internal quality improvement and process optimization initiatives.

Your Profile


  • Completed training as a Technical Draftsman / Technical Product Designer, or further education as a Certified Mechanical Technician or University degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor, Master, Dipl.-Ing. or equivalent).
  • Solid experience in machinery and plant engineering.
  • Proficiency in modern CAD software, preferably Siemens NX or a comparable system.
  • Experience creating assemblies, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing drawings.
  • Strong teamwork skills and enjoyment of working in dynamic project team.
  • Good English language skills; German is an advantage.
  • Confident user of MS Office; SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Structured, independent, and reliable working style.
  • Flexible, solution-oriented mindset and strong sense of responsibility.
  • Willingness to undertake external assignments, including international travel.
