We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our automation engineering team supporting major automotive customers. You’ll design, program, and commission automation systems built on Siemens SIMATIC platforms, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety from concept through startup.

We are looking for a Senior Controls Engineer. This position will be based in Greenville, SC. 

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Develop, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for Siemens automation systems (Step 7, TIA Portal, WinCC).
  • Integrate software with electrical and mechanical systems for automotive production equipment.
  • Commission components and complete systems at customer sites, including planning, setup, and execution.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize system behavior, ensuring smooth integration of all automation elements.
  • Prepare detailed commissioning documentation and test reports.
  • Train and hand over systems to customer personnel.
  • Support or lead on-site commissioning teams as needed.
  • Participate in acceptance testing and performance verification.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proven expertise with Siemens SIMATIC PLCs and HMIs (Step 7, TIA Portal, WinCC).
  • Strong background in assembly system programming (conveyors, process equipment).
  • Experience with industrial safety systems (e.g., Sick PLS or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with drives and motion control (Siemens, SEW, Lenze).
  • Experience with industrial networks such as Profinet.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CMSE® – Certified Machinery Safety Expert (Pilz) or equivalent certification.
  • Knowledge of Volkswagen VASS

The pay range for this position is 80,920 - 138,720 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
