Position overview:
The Regional Commodity Management team contributes to growing the competitiveness and profitability of our products and solutions by ensuring the availability and quality of the materials we require to serve our customers. We seek to strengthen Siemens’ competitiveness by achieving substantial savings in our purchasing volume and leveraging the innovation power of our suppliers. We drive optimized pooling activities for direct materials within the Americas region by utilizing synergies within procurement, maximizing competition and intensifying collaboration with the best suppliers in conjunction with our global network and cross-functional partners.
Responsibilities:
The Regional Commodity Manager (RCM) for Transformers develops and drives the supply chain management strategies and activities with the concerned procurement teams of the divisions and business units in the Americas. The RCM ensures the input of the divisions and business units needs into the global sourcing strategy.
- Manages the defined commodity effectively and professionally to generate sustainable savings and to ensure a continuous availability of material in the Americas.
- Continuously ensure the enhancement of processes, tools, resources, skills and knowledge to create a world class commodity management network in close cooperation with the global Purchasing Council (PuC) as well as cross-Division and cross-functional interfaces.
- Performs international supplier and market analysis as well as internal Siemens demand analysis. Continuously scan current spend and future sourcing opportunities for savings potentials.
- Supports the development, communication, and implementation of complex procurement strategies. Drive realization of savings potentials in a cross functional environment incorporating engineering, manufacturing, and quality management or other resources and functions as needed.
- Drives regional demand pooling in line with the global commodity strategy. Identify applicable current and new challenger suppliers for sourcing opportunities. Supplier selection, negotiation of price, terms, and conditions to maximize contribution to operating profit and business objectives.
- Manages applicable supplier contracts incorporating optimized terms and conditions, risk mitigation, volume discounts and/or rebates. Run the supplier network for the applicable commodity including Global Value Sourcing suppliers.
- Leads the individual participation, interaction, and activities of the team of internal business partners representing all applicable Divisions and Business Units in the Americas.
- Facilitates and support Business Unit Commodity Managers in implementing their business plans for cost, availability, and quality.
- Develops and implement innovative and sophisticated negotiation concepts and techniques to deliver sourcing results for the business.
- Improves commodity data accuracy within global procurement reporting tools. Promote positive change within the organization.
Required education, experience, knowledge and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree, required from an accredited university
- 10 + years of progressive and relevant experience in Strategic Procurement, Global Supply Chain Management, Commodity Management, Engineering or Supplier Development. (Preferred within a large corporation, Siemens experience is ideal)
- Track record of successful implementation of innovative process improvements.
- Knowledge of the market & suppliers for Transformers in the Americas Region. Areas/ Technologies of interest are medium voltage VPI, cast resin, and liquid cooled transformers, low voltage current transformers and control power transformers.
- Proven team leadership skills exhibited through successful definition, planning, and implementation of complex projects.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, driving cross-functional teams to achieve results including implementation and controlling of cost reduction and value adding measures.
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers for price negotiations, frame agreements as well as strategic collaborative programs.
- Knowledge of domestic and international commercial law and commercial finances.
- Willing and able to work normal business hours 8-5p EST (regardless of location)
- English communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Flexibility and willingness for domestic and international travel as required for the position ~40% possible.
Preferred education, experience, knowledge and skills:
- Degree in Engineering and/or MBA.
- Experience in operating in a project environment.
- Knowledge of Siemens procurement systems, tools, and processes. Familiarity with Siemens’s SAP, SCM CoRe and SCM Star tools.
- Self-driven, groundbreaking approach to change management within an organization.
- Ability to report and influence internal and external resources at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or German is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in generating and communicating Procurement Market Analyses.
- Preferred location is Alpharetta, GA.

The pay range for this position is $109,670 - $188,006 annually with a target incentive of 15% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
