We are looking for a Associate Product Owner
You’ll make a difference by:
- Strategic Product Vision & Roadmap Alignment:
- Collaborate closely with the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) team to deeply understand customer needs, market trends, and the overarching product strategy for our railway solution.
- Actively participate in defining and refining the product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility.
- Critically evaluate and question incoming requirements from various stakeholders, ensuring they align with the product roadmap, strategic goals, and deliver maximum value, challenging assumptions where necessary.
- Requirements Management & Backlog Ownership:
- Serve as the primary voice of the customer and market for the development team, translating complex business problems and user needs into clear, actionable product requirements (user stories, epics, functional specifications, non functional requirements).
- Own, prioritize, and maintain a well-groomed product backlog, ensuring stories are ready for development and reflect the most impactful work.
- Define comprehensive, unambiguous, and testable acceptance criteria for all features, enhancements, and bug fixes, providing clarity for both development and QA teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
- Facilitate engaging and effective requirement elaboration sessions with the development team, QA, and other stakeholders to clarify use cases, resolve ambiguities, and ensure a shared understanding of the product.
- Act as the central point of contact for all product-related queries from the development team, providing timely and accurate information.
- Work hand-in-hand with the development team to analyze reported bugs, discerning whether they are actual software defects requiring a fix or represent a change in underlying requirements or misunderstood functionality, guiding the appropriate resolution path.
- Domain Expertise & Product Quality:
- Maintain a deep understanding of the legacy product's architecture, technical constraints, and interdependencies within the complex railway domain.
- Contribute to release planning, monitor product performance post-launch, and gather feedback to drive continuous improvement cycles.
- What You'll Bring:
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or a similar role focused on software product development.
- Demonstrated experience working with complex, actively used legacy products, understanding the challenges and opportunities they present.
- Proven track record of successfully managing product backlogs and delivering features in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban).
- Experience collaborating effectively with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) teams.
- Domain Expertise [ preferred]:
- Understanding of the railway domain is preferred, including knowledge of railway operations, signaling, control systems, rolling stock, or other relevant aspects of the industry.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., CENELEC, EN 50128) and safety-critical systems is a significant advantage.
- Technical Acumen [preferred]:
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and software engineering principles.
- Ability to grasp technical concepts, architectural implications, and discuss trade-offs with development teams (familiarity with C++ and Angular, as used in our product, is a plus).
- Proficiency with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence).
- Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex technical and business concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, from engineers to senior management and customers.
- Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Adept at breaking down complex problems, identifying root causes, and proposing effective, data-driven solutions.
- Negotiation and Influencing Skills: Ability to effectively question requirements, manage stakeholder expectations, build consensus, and drive decisions.
- Customer-Centric Mindset: A genuine passion for understanding customer needs and delivering solutions that provide tangible value.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in defining requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Proactive and Self-Driven: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive product initiatives forward in a dynamic environment.

- 10+ years of experience is required.
- Great Communication skills.
