Mechanical Engineering Internship
- Maintaining and performing electrical and mechanical tests on HVAC devices and subcomponents in a Mechanical Test Lab, including recording data, archiving results, and completing test reports.
- Setting up, programming, and running tests using both standard and bespoke test equipment.
- Assisting in building and testing prototypes of new or improved designs.
- Designing, updating, building, and troubleshooting bespoke test infrastructure, fixtures, and equipment (both off-the-shelf and bespoke).
- Developing and executing preventative maintenance plans on lab equipment, including troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Performing safety inspections and maintaining safety inspection records.
- Fabricating and assembling test equipment and test samples as needed.
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Candidates must not graduate prior to September 2026.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
- Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week internship.
- Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Buffalo Grove, IL as this role does not provide housing or relocation support.
- Proficient in basic computer skills such as word processing, data entry, and e-mail, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Good interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to understand and abide by equipment and lab safety requirements.
- Ability to perform assigned tests under limited supervision using standard mechanical testing and new procedures.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to assist engineers at various levels with their tasks and assignments.
The hourly pay range for this position $28.00 - $34.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
