Your Impact and Responsibilities:

As a Senior Substation Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing advanced automation systems that will power our future. Your expertise will directly shape critical infrastructure projects in Kuwait.

Project Leadership & System Design

  •  Drive the full lifecycle of electrical Substation Automation Systems (SAS), from initial conceptual design and engineering to successful implementation and deployment.
  •  Strategically implement RTU devices and advanced automation strategies to enhance monitoring, control, and protection functions within substations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  •  Apply deep, comprehensive expertise across all critical levels of substation automation: Process Level, Bay Level, and Control Level.

Technical Engineering & Integration
  •  Authoritatively configure and integrate Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), and Gateways to establish robust remote monitoring and control capabilities across the grid.
  •  Design, configure, and meticulously solve advanced communication networks using industry-standard protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC60870-5-101/103/104, DNP3, OPC, and Modbus TCP/IP.
  •  Guarantee seamless and efficient data exchange and interoperability between various substation components and systems, fostering a cohesive and responsive infrastructure.
  •  Conduct precise I/O mapping based on scheme drawings and expertly solve complex database issues within RTU-based systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  •  Develop and maintain standardized parameterization procedures for substation automation equipment to optimize performance, ensure interoperability, and streamline future deployments.

Documentation, Testing & Quality Assurance
  •  Prepare, review, and secure approval for critical engineering documents, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), System Architecture, Signal Lists, Bills of Materials, and detailed General Arrangements.
  •  Oversee the development and meticulous execution of comprehensive testing and commissioning plans, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), detailed Test Reports, and precise project schedules.
  •  Implement meticulous Point-to-Point (P2P) data testing for telemetry systems (RTU) integrated with SCADA systems, verifying seamless communication and data flow.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely and effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project delivery, achieve high-quality customer outcomes, and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Proactively monitor the industry landscape, research, and integrate emerging technologies and standard processes to keep our solutions pioneering and future-proof.

Your Success is Grounded In:

We're looking for a visionary engineer with a proven track record in substation automation. Your foundation for success includes:
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
• You bring with you a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the design, engineering, and implementation of electrical substation automation systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in working with RTU devices for optimizing monitoring, control, and protection functions within substations.
• Proficient in using critical debugging tools such as Mods can, IEC Tester, and Wireshark.
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience with key communication protocols like IEC 61850, IEC60870-5-101/103/104, DNP3, OPC, and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Proven experience in I/O Mapping with respect to scheme drawings and solving database issues in RTU-based systems.
• Solid experience in performing Point-to-Point (P2P) data testing for telemetry systems (RTU) integrated with SCADA systems.
• Practical work experience with Siemens SICAM (Toolbox, SDM) solutions, Hitachi Micro SCADA, and GE DS AGILE.
• Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to translate complex plans into actionable site tasks.
• Excellent problem-solving, solving, and organizational abilities to navigate complex challenges.
• Experience working effectively in international or multi-cultural teams.
• Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive mentality with a drive to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies.
