The Lead Buyer – Balance of Plant is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities for BoP packages, ensuring cost competitiveness, timely delivery, quality compliance, and alignment with project and organizational objectives. The role requires strong commercial acumen, supplier management expertise, and cross-functional coordination with engineering, projects, quality, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for Balance of Plant categories (Mechanical packages.)
- Lead supplier identification, evaluation, qualification, and onboarding processes.
- Conduct market analysis and cost benchmarking to ensure competitive sourcing.
Commercial & Contract Management
- Lead techno-commercial evaluations and negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and contractual clauses.
- Finalize purchase orders and contracts in line with company policies and delegated authority.
- Manage contract amendments, claims, and dispute resolution related to suppliers.
Project Procurement Support
- Work closely with project management teams to align procurement plans with project schedules and milestones.
- Ensure timely procurement of BoP items to support project execution and avoid delays.
- Monitor supplier performance against delivery, quality, and cost commitments.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
- Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key BoP suppliers.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mitigate supply risks through alternate sourcing strategies and contingency planning.
Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, value engineering, localization, and long-term agreements.
- Support standardization and specification optimization efforts in collaboration with engineering.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards, and applicable legal and contractual requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and audit-ready records.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in Balance of Plant procurement
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills
- Sound understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and BoP systems
- Strong analytical, cost modeling, and commercial evaluation skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex projects
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle or equivalent) and MS Excel

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline preferably Mechanical/Industrial/Production.
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain
