We are looking for a Power Systems Consultant to join Grid Software’s Power Technologies International (PTI) team. This role, that could be assumed by a Junior or a Senior professional, is critical to the planning and integration of renewables, storage, and FACTS to the electrical grid and to perform large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for clients such as power producers, independent system operators, and transmission providers to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system operations.

Assuming a Junior, position you’ll make an impact as you:

  • Perform transmission planning through the application of power systems planning principles to simulate and analyze the power system steady state and dynamic behavior.
  • Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Work in small project teams, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and projects are completed within budget and schedule.
  • Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis.
  • Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Deliver on-site technical consulting/training services.

Minimum requirements as a Junior Consultant:

  • Postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in the electric power industry (time earning an advanced relevant degree and relevant internships may be considered towards the one-year experience requirement).
  • Practical experience using advanced power systems analysis tools.
  • Candidate must have knowledge (through experience, coursework, or applicable related internship) of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability.
  • Ability to travel 10% domestically.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Power System Consulting.
  • Prior experience in EMT study
  • Transmission system planning or operations experience.
  • Ph.D in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.

Assuming a Senior, you’ll make an impact as you:

  • Performing and leading consulting engagements related to power grid analysis and design, system dynamics and transients, system interconnection, and grid code compliance.
  • Managing project execution, tracking project progress, and making necessary adjustments to maintain scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Maintaining relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for further business.
  • Supporting proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Providing mentoring and technical development to junior consultants.
  • Developing automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks, reduce errors, and boost overall efficiency.
  • Delivering on-site consulting and training services

Minimum requirements as a Senior Consultant :

  • Postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing power systems analysis for electric utilities, ISOs, RTOs, and/or developers.
  • Experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using PSS®E, TSAT™, TARA, PSLF™, or PowerWorld.
  • Good knowledge of Reliability Standards with understanding of RTO and other regional planning criteria, procedures, and practices.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and listening skills with demonstrated ability to write effective technical reports.
  • Ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Power System Consulting.
  • Industry experience performing power system transient analysis using PSCAD™ or EMTP-RV
  • Ph.D in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
