Position Overview: 


As a Software Development Intern in Digital Industries Simulation Software (DISW), you will dive into developing our premiere Simcenter Inspire software. You will have the opportunity to design, develop, modify, and implement software programming for products, with focus on surpassing customers’ expectations by achieving high quality and on time delivery. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall functional quality of the released product on all required platforms and mechanisms. You will also create, document, and execute software designs which may involve complicated workflows or multiple product areas. While you will work with general supervision on complex projects and have the opportunity to partner with senior engineers, it will also be important to act with independent judgment when necessary. 


Key Responsibilities: 


Projects will focus on the following two main disciplines.


Performance Improvement-

• Learn Inspire as an application.
• Understand it’s build environment and procedures.
• Learn to profile C++/Python code for performance bottlenecks.
• Identify issues and suggest solutions
• Work on approved solution and integrate in the code base.
• Follow Agile Software Development methodology
• Adhere to best practices in coding, documentation, test automation, and deployment

• Contribute in continuous integration and continuous delivery (CICD) environment


Code Refactoring (for better maintenance and scalability)-

• Experience with C++ and object-oriented programming

• Assist in maintaining our existing software product by analyzing and defining solutions to reported problems

• Ensure ongoing quality of our software product for our customers

• Identify opportunities in the code to remove redundancy and improve performance.

• Work on product quality improvement.


Requirements:


• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, or a first year Master’s degree in Computer Science (preferred graduation year of 2026/27)

• Work in a hybrid environment in our Troy, Michigan office

• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Passionate, driven, and proactive

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Effective organizational and time management skills 

• Desire to continuously improve and learn about new areas

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Inspires collaboration

• C++ required, Python script preferred

• Experience with IDE like Visual Studio desired

• Experience with 3D CAD modeling Software is a plus

 

The hourly range for this position is $18.00 to $50.00. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location, as well as degree type and relevant education. The hourly pay range for this position is 18-50 per hour for first time Interns or 18-50 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
