Who we are
Build a brighter future while learning and growing with a Siemens company at the intersection of technology, community and sustainability. Our global team of innovators is always looking to create meaningful solutions to some of the toughest challenges facing our world. Find out how far your passion can take you.

About the Job
Help us connect the real world to the digital—responsibly, reliably, and at scale

We are seeking a technically adept MBA intern to lead the prototyping and validation of AI-driven solutions. You won’t just build models; you will evaluate their commercial viability and operational impact across sustainability facility and public infrastructure portfolios. Joining Brightly’s Technology organization you’ll collaborate with PM, Design, and Data Science to turn ideas into working software and measurable outcomes across the Brightly product portfolio. This internship isn’t just a summer experience—it’s your launchpad into a global career. High-performing interns will be fast-tracked for consideration into the XPS Leadership Program, a prestigious two-year talent program designed to develop the next generation of leaders across Siemens worldwide.

Through XPS, you’ll gain international exposure, work on strategic projects, and build a global network—all while shaping the future of a technology powerhouse. This internship is your first step toward that journey.

The Challenge
Operational data is often unstructured, noisy, sparse, and context‑rich (work orders, sensor streams, inspections, parts, costs). Your objective is to transform this raw operational data into robust AI micro-services that provide actionable insights. You will be responsible for proving that AI can drive measurable outcomes (e.g. reducing downtime, enhancing safety, and optimizing capital allocation for customers in education, healthcare, manufacturing, and local government.

Your Summer Internship (What You Will Be Doing):
  • Rapid Prototype and MVP development: Implement AI/ML experiments (Python/TensorFlow/PyTorch) for use cases like predictive maintenance, anomaly detection on IoT signals, capital plan recommendations, and LLM‑driven work instructions.
  • Data engineering: Ingest, clean, and feature‑engineer operational datasets; evaluate model performance with rigorous business critical metrics.
  • Service integration: Expose prototypes via APIs; wire to front‑end or operational workflows within Brightly solutions (e.g., Asset Essentials, Smart Assets/IoT).
  • Quality, security & compliance: Apply unit/integration testing, observability, and responsible AI practices aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Multi-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Management (PM) on requirements, with Design on UX, and with platform teams on deployment considerations.

What You’ll Deliver (Success Measures):
  • Functional Prototype(s): A validated, documented AI solution with a reproducible evaluation framework.
  • Technical & Strategic Brief: A comprehensive write-up covering architecture, data pipeline, model metrics, and risks (performance, drift, bias).
  • Demo: A formal presentation of your integrated solution in a sandbox environment, including a roadmap for full-scale production.
Location & Duration:
  • Availability: Full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 weeks (May-July or June-August)
  • Location: Hybrid - combination of onsite work at designated office and remote work (no relocation or housing stipend provided).
  • Global Mobility: Willingness and ability to relocate internationally for possible future roles upon successful completion of the internship.

We’re seeking candidates who:
  • Are pursuing an MBA or Master’s in Computer Science (CS), Data Engineering, or related field.
  • Have 5-10 years of prior work experience in a related technical / digital field
  • Have hands‑on proficiency experience with Python and ML frameworks; comfortable with APIs and data pipelines.
  • Understand time‑series/sensor data, NLP/LLMs, or recommender systems; eager to learn MLOps.
What makes you a Standout
  • Exposure to Cloud (AWS and/or Azure), containers, CI/CD, C#/.NET or Java for service integration.
  • Familiarity with EAM/CMMS/SAM domains and IoT.
