Percentage of Completion (POC) General Ledger Accountant

As a POC General Ledger (G/L) Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and insight-driven financial reporting across the Siemens Mobility North America region. This role is central to maintaining high-quality financial statements in alignment with IFRS, Siemens Financial Reporting Guidelines, and applicable legal standards.
Based in one of our key Mobility locations—Alpharetta, GA; Sacramento, CA; Lexington, NC; or Pittsburgh, PA—you will report directly to the Head of Accounting and gain broad exposure across finance, project execution, operations, and cross-functional teams. You will also contribute to process optimization, system enhancements, and our digitalization roadmap.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

As the POC General Ledger Accountant, you will serve as a vital liaison between Accounting, Project Controllers, and Business Units. You will:
  • Proactively explore and analyze financial systems to understand account behavior.
  • Apply advanced Excel and/or Power BI skills to enhance reporting, automation, and data visualization.
  • Leverage your background in project accounting, management reporting, and financial analysis to deliver value and fuel future growth.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Perform and review account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Analyze project and POC accounting data to support accurate revenue recognition and financial statements.
  • Support the Head of Accounting in reviewing and evaluating general ledger impacts on divisional results.
  • Prepare, review, and present financial statement fluctuation analyses to leadership.
  • Provide general ledger data and supporting documentation for internal/external audits and Siemens Mobility divisional reviews.
  • Conduct detailed balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow reviews and deliver meaningful, actionable insights.
  • Collaborate effectively with Siemens Mobility finance teams and act as a trusted business partner to cross-functional stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree or CPA strongly preferred.
  • Professional experience in general ledger or project accounting, ideally within a public accounting firm or multinational organization.
  • Understanding of percentage of completion (POC) or construction project accounting.
  • Familiarity with SAP or comparable ERP systems.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and experience working with financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

The pay range for this position is $66,708 - $128,316 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
