An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Engineer to join our Siemens Mobility team in Port Melbourne, Victoria. In this role, you will be responsible for producing and revising mechanical and electrical engineering documentation including CAD models, drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs) and technical specifications. You will support the development, configuration and integration of railway trackside equipment and onboard mounting hardware while ensuring our products meet customer requirements and quality standards.

In this role you will:

  • Work with railway trackside products such as point machines, point layouts, point detectors, signals, and locomotive onboard mounting hardware.
  • Define technical requirements for products and subcomponents based on user requirement specifications.
  • Design and draft components under the supervision of the engineering design authority to meet customer specifications.
  • Configure products in response to customer needs or product change requests.
  • Develop detailed integration solutions ensuring all elements function effectively as a complete system.
  • Take responsibility for delivering components with the required functionality and performance.
  • Prepare design documentation including drawings, models, BOMs and specifications.
  • Support internal functions such as manufacturing, procurement and logistics.

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of AS1100 engineering drawing standards.
  • Proven mechanical drafting experience including metal fabrication, sheet metal, machining detail, thread specifications and welding designations.
  • Point layout experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD (e.g., AutoCAD) and 3D CAD (essential).
  • Experience with NX (preferred); SolidWorks experience beneficial.
  • Ability to apply engineering first principles, including stress analysis and material/finish selection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
