Position Summary

We are looking for a mid‑level SAP Functional Consultant with strong expertise in Material Master, BOM, MRP, Production Planning, and Purchase Planning in a Make‑to‑Order (MTO) manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will support configuration, process execution, and continuous improvement for order-driven manufacturing, engineering coordination, and project-based delivery cycles.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP Master Data & Material Management

  • Maintain Material Master data relevant to MTO processes: configurable materials, batch/serial profiles, procurement & MRP views.
  • Support engineering teams in creating new materials and change control for order-specific items.
  • Perform mass updates using LSMW/Migration Cockpit and ensure data accuracy for project-based manufacturing.

2. BOM & Routing Support (MTO/ETO Focused)

  • Create and maintain order-specific BOMs (sales order BOMs, production BOMs).
  • Coordinate with Engineering for EBOM → MBOM alignment for unique customer requirements.
  • Support routings, work centers, capacities, and production resources/tools.
  • Manage Engineering Change Management (ECM) for order-driven changes.

3. MRP & Order-Driven Planning

  • Configure and support planning strategies suited for MTO (e.g., Strategy 20/50 variants).
  • Execute MRP, analyze exception messages, and ensure timely procurement and production readiness.
  • Manage special procurement scenarios: subcontracting, in-house manufacturing, external operations.
  • Support planning of long lead‑time and engineered components based on project schedules.

4. Production Planning & Execution

  • Support creation and tracking of production orders derived from sales orders.
  • Assist shop-floor teams during order release, confirmations, backflush, GI/GR postings.
  • Monitor capacity utilization and scheduling for MTO workloads.
  • Address order variances, rework, engineering changes, and material substitution needs.

5. Purchase Planning & Procurement Coordination

  • Maintain Info Records, Source Lists, Quota Arrangements, and subcontracting setups.
  • Support MRP-driven PR generation, PO creation, and supplier follow-up for MTO-critical items.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for long-lead materials, custom parts, and engineering drawings.
  • Assist in managing delivery schedules, ASN tracking, and vendor performance.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, Sourcing, and Project Management for end-to-end order fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with SD team for sales order integration, configurable materials, and order BOMs.
  • Support CO integration for cost rollups, standard cost checks, and order costing.

7. Support, Testing & Documentation

  • Provide day-to-day support and troubleshoot issues related to MM/PP/MRP processes.
  • Prepare functional specifications for enhancements and coordinate with ABAP developers.
  • Conduct user training, create SOPs, and support UAT/SIT during releases.
  • Participate in data migration and cutover readiness for new deployments.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • 7–12 years of experience in SAP MM/PP, with hands-on work in Make‑to‑Order environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Material Master (MM/PP/SD views)
    • BOM & routing configurations (MTO/ETO-specific)
    • MRP (including exception handling and planning strategies 20/50)
    • Production Orders, subcontracting, external operations
    • PR/PO processes and procurement fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA is preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools such as LSMW, Migration Cockpit, BAPIs/IDocs (functional use).

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret requirements from engineering and project teams.
  • Good communication and ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders in manufacturing.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to support multiple projects/orders in parallel.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in custom equipment, project-based manufacturing, engineered products, or components-based MTO industries.
  • Exposure to integration with SD, QM, PM, or MES systems.
  • Understanding of cost structures, order costing, and manufacturing performance KPIs.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work in an engineering-centric, custom manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to end-to-end MTO processes across engineering, planning, and production.
  • Growth opportunities for advanced S/4HANA roles and cross-module exposure.
