Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility is hiring Motors/Gearbox Assembly Technicians to build, overhaul and rebuild locomotive gears and motors. We are responsible for disassembling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling components according to drawings and guidelines to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met. We inspect and adjust completed motors to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements. We have a training and development plan waiting for you!

Shift: 6.30am – 5.00pm, 10 hours Monday to Thursday

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Attach gearbox housing and couplings to the build stand, then install gears, bearings, housings, spacers, covers, fasteners, plugs, and hardware.
• Demount gearbox from the build stand and inspect, test (if applicable), and adjust completed units to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.
• Assemble parts or units, position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, subassemblies, or frames; disassemble units as needed for part replacement or shipping.
• Position, align, and adjust parts for accurate fit and assembly using hand or power tools, fixtures, templates, or microscopes.
• Attach name plates and mark identifying information on parts.
• Measure parts and clearances for toleranceusing precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, verniers, or depth gauges; inspect parts for surface defects and verify dimensions to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, bills of materials, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.
• Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other workers.
• Clean working areas and parts using cleaning solutions, air hoses, and cloths; inventory tools; drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations.
• Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities, resolve production problems; conduct 6S audits and safety walks; participate in work groups or projects to optimize processes and workflows.

To thrive in this role, you have:

• HS Diploma required
• Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
• English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
• Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)– Knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Product- Knowledge of product, workmanship standards, and assembly procedures.
• Computers – Basic knowledge of computer software applications.
• Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Machines and Tools— Knowledge of machines, power tools, and hand tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and operator level maintenance.
• Lean Manufacturing – Knowledge of basic lean principles and techniques for optimizing processes and eliminating waste.
• Documenting/Recording Information — Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.

The base rate range for this position in Georgia is $19.45/hr. - $26.84/hr. The rate may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.

The pay range for this position is $19.45- $26.84 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
