Position Overview:

Join our team as a Senior Manager of Industrial Engineering, and provide strategic leadership that shapes the future of our global manufacturing network. In this role, you will define the vision for advanced production systems, architect innovative tools and workflows, and drive large‑scale process transformations that significantly enhance operational performance. You will lead cross‑functional and cross‑regional teams to implement data‑driven solutions, optimize end‑to‑end value streams, and ensure our products are built with world‑class quality, efficiency, and reliability. What your day may look like:

  • Architects and governs the strategic roadmap for Process Planning and IE, establishing world-class standards and methodologies across the organization.
  • Manages substantial CapEx and OpEx budgets, ensuring strategic deployment of resources to maximize ROI.
  • Champions Design for Excellence (DfX) to guarantee the manufacturability and testability of products while optimizing advanced manufacturing and test solutions.
  • Drives simultaneous engineering to reduce development times of new products and increase the alignment of production and development.
  • Identifies and sponsors high-impact transformation projects, leveraging Lean and Industry 4.0 principles to solve systemic operational bottlenecks.
  • Propels infrastructure advancement by developing performance initiatives and implementing the next generation of technical frameworks.
  • Manage strategic partnerships with external vendors and key stakeholders to integrate cutting-edge technologies into the production ecosystem.
  • Manages overall ramp-up phase for mission critical equipment and machines and approves respective work deliveries.
  • Empowers a high-impact engineering team by prioritizing continuous mentorship and creating clear advancement pathways that drive long-term talent retention.


What you will need to be successful:

  • P. Eng. Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in high-volume manufacturing, including at least 3–5 years in a dedicated people-management role overseeing multi-disciplinary industrial engineering teams.
  • Analyzes and designs work systems in order to support general adherence to agreed standards, in order to ensure humanely and economical production and drives continuous improvement topics.
  • Implements superior Industrial Engineering (IE) policies and standards and oversee and manage all production related engineering activities (e.g. equipment layout, workflow design, and accidental prevention measures), within the plant.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including the development of project plans, schedules, budgets, layout proposals, resource planning.
  • Expert in lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
  • Proven hands-on approach to problem-solving and implementing corrective actions within assigned areas.
  • Expert in designing tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, with an understanding of their impact on dimensional accuracy, quality, and takt time.
  • Optimize team performance by identifying individual strengths and strategically allocating resources to match project complexities
  • Establish and oversee internal training programs and mentorship frameworks to bridge skill gaps and prepare team members for future leadership roles.


We would be impressed if you have:

  • Over 10 years of experience in planning and supporting the launch of new production lines in low-speed manufacturing environments (e.g., rail, aerospace, naval, heavy equipment).
  • Experience in vehicle production processes, particularly in welding or assembly (e.g., rail, aviation, naval, heavy equipment).
  • Background in the rail industry, especially in light or heavy rail production.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Pro-E, PTC Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems.
  • Certifications or coursework in Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean, OSHA Safety, Certified Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Management, EIT, or Professional Engineering License.
  • Hands-on experience applying lean tools such as 5S, the 7 Wastes (Muda), root cause analysis, Yamazumi charts, Kanban, value stream mapping, ABC-XYZ analysis, and lean shop floor management.
  • Experience in training others on lean principles and facilitating improvement initiatives such as Kaizen events, root cause corrective actions, and 5S workshops.
  • Ability to advocate for lean practices across production, quality, and administrative functions.
  • Experience with advanced factory planning methods, including high-level manufacturing strategy, technology assessment, value stream and capacity analysis, and implementation planning.
  • Experience in developing automation technology roadmaps.
  • Multilingual proficiency in German, Spanish, and English.

This position is located in Sacramento, CA. The pay range for this position is $146,472 -$172,380 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
