As a Working Student Performance Testing for Simcenter STAR-CCM+ (f/m/d) in Erlangen, you will execute and analyze performance tests on different HPC systems to ensure our software runs efficiently and reliably on current and upcoming hardware platforms. You will work closely with development teams to detect performance regressions early and drive continuous improvements in scalability and performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Run performance test experiments with Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to ensure scalability and stability across supported platforms, including
    • Testing of pre-release versions
    • Performance evaluation of new hardware platforms
    • Testing of feature branches before they get merged
  • Validate and analyze performance test results for correctness and sanity
  • Summarize and present findings to interested parties
  • Develop and maintain tools and scripts for performance testing and analysis
  • Work alongside the HPC development team and further collaborators of the development organization


Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • Experience with Linux-based HPC environments (e.g., batch systems, job submission, CPU/GPU systems)
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Good understanding of software performance concepts (e.g., scalability, bottlenecks, memory usage, profiling)
  • Confident use of Linux command line
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Very good written and spoken English skills


Additional useful qualifications:

  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, Tableau)
  • Experience with MPI-parallel software
  • Basic knowledge of C++, Java, or Windows environments
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MongoDB)
  • Experience with Simcenter STAR-CCM+
