This hybrid Electrical Engineer - GIS Switchgear position is based in Wendell, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
You will support the design and application of Siemens Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear solutions. This role focuses on translating customer requirements into high‑quality, cost‑effective engineering designs that meet technical, schedule, and quality expectations. You will also analyze customer technical specifications, one‑line diagrams, and schematics to develop MV switchgear solutions, including associated protection and control systems.
You'll make a difference by:
- Developing complete engineering documentation for customer approval and MV switchgear manufacturing.
- Creating accurate one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and bills of material using Siemens engineering configurator tool.
- Owning technical deliverables as a project engineering lead, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely execution.
- Supporting manufacturing, service teams, and customers to ensure designs are built and delivered as intended.
- Collaborating to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Having a desire to grow your knowledge in the power systems engineering field with the support of an experienced team.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- One to Four (or more) years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution systems, with an emphasis on MV switchgear.
- Experience with electrical drafting tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or similar software.)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred)
- Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV switchgear
- Experience with Air Insulated MV switchgear and/or Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
- Experience developing or using smart CAD blocks

The pay range for this position is $68,830 - $117,994 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
