Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility is seeking a highly experienced Senior CBTC Technical Manager to serve as the technical authority for Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) systems on complex transit and rail infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned CBTC professional with expertise in system architecture, systems integration, requirements management, testing and commissioning, and customer-facing technical leadership.

As the project's CBTC technical lead, you will be responsible for guiding system design, integration, validation, migration, and change management activities while serving as the primary technical interface between Siemens, customers, and key project stakeholders.

What your day may look like:

  • Serve as the technical authority for CBTC systems, leading system architecture, requirements management, subsystem integration, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the customer's trusted technical advisor, driving technical discussions, resolving complex system-level issues, and ensuring solutions align with operational, contractual, and performance requirements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary systems engineering and integration teams across signaling, train control, communications, cybersecurity, and safety disciplines to deliver complex rail infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee end-to-end CBTC integration, verification & validation, testing, migration, commissioning, and revenue service implementation, ensuring successful deployment of safety-critical train control systems.
  • Drive technical governance and project success by leading change control activities, managing technical risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing strategic technical guidance to project leadership and customers.

This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role, but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Deep CBTC and rail signaling expertise with 10+ years of experience designing, integrating, testing, and deploying Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and train control systems within metro, transit, or rail infrastructure environments.
  • Proven technical leadership experience serving as a CBTC Technical Manager, Systems Engineering Manager, Lead Systems Engineer, Integration Manager, or similar role, with responsibility for system architecture, technical decision-making, and project delivery of complex signaling and train control solutions.
  • Strong systems engineering and integration background, including requirements management, subsystem integration, interface management, system verification & validation (V&V), testing, commissioning, migration planning, and revenue service implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across signaling, train control, communications, cybersecurity, safety, and infrastructure disciplines while driving technical excellence, schedule adherence, and project performance.
  • Customer-facing technical leadership skills, with the ability to serve as the primary technical interface to transit agencies, customers, and stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable solutions and resolving critical system-level challenges.
  • Experience managing safety-critical rail systems, with a strong understanding of technical risk management, change control processes, regulatory compliance, and the successful deployment of operationally critical train control solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead technical governance and change management activities, including Change Control Boards (CCB), design reviews, technical issue resolution, and cross-functional decision-making while balancing contractual, schedule, cost, and performance requirements.

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience delivering CBTC projects for major transit agencies and/or prior experience with Siemens Mobility, Alstom, Hitachi Rail, Thales, Wabtec, Bombardier Transportation, Ansaldo STS, or similar rail signaling organizations is highly preferred.

Purpose is the reason a company exists. It's not about making money or selling products - it's the deeper "why" behind everything we do. It answers the question: What problem are we solving? What positive change are we creating?

For Siemens, our purpose has been clear for over 175 years: We create technology to transform the everyday, for everyone.

The world needs technologies that work. Technologies that matter. Technologies that solve today's challenges and help shape a better tomorrow. And that's exactly what we build. By bringing together the real world (factories, buildings, power grids, trains) with the digital world (software, data, AI, digital twins), we help our customers become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable.

Our technology is everywhere - in trains and transportation, we help move people faster, safer, and more sustainably.
