Senior Information Developer
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
Position Overview
A Senior Information Developer with hands-on experience deploying and documenting enterprise software products. This role focuses on crafting comprehensive, user-centered documentation for Teamcenter deployment — covering installation, configuration, customization, APIs, integrations, and related technical workflows.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background in enterprise software deployment, a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and actionable documentation, and the fluency to harness AI as a core part of their documentation practice — not just as a productivity aid, but as a means of continuously elevating content quality, consistency, and efficiency. Experience with PLM concepts and Teamcenter is a significant advantage, though not a strict requirement. What is crucial is the ability to deeply understand and document sophisticated enterprise software ecosystems from the perspective of the administrators, architects, and developers who deploy and extend them.
The position reports to an Information Development Manager, requires minimal direction, and involves active participation in strategic documentation initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
Document Teamcenter deployment end-to-end — including installation, environment configuration, upgrade paths, and post-deployment validation across multi-tier and distributed architectures
Develop technical documentation for software customization — covering extensibility frameworks, custom business logic, event handlers, object model extensions, and workflow customization patterns
Document integration architectures — including integrations with CAD, ERP, manufacturing execution systems, and other enterprise platforms via APIs, web services, and other programmatic integration methods
Conduct audience and task analyses to design documentation targeted at system administrators, deployment engineers, integration developers, and customization specialists
Collaborate with SMEs, product managers, and engineering teams to capture accurate technical information, validate content, and stay current with product evolution
Develop realistic examples, configuration samples, and reference data to support users in applying documented procedures to real-world scenarios
Define content scope and information plans for new and updated documentation
Strategically apply AI tools across the documentation workflow — accelerating content drafting, improving structural consistency, automating repetitive tasks, and continuously raising the quality bar
Mentor other information developers on enterprise software documentation practices and technical writing for developer and administrator audiences
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
10+ years of experience in technical communication, with a strong focus on enterprise software documentation — particularly installation, deployment, administration, or developer-facing content
Hands-on experience with enterprise software deployment — demonstrated ability to understand and document complex deployment architectures, configuration workflows, and system interdependencies
Deep understanding of software customization and extensibility — including APIs, SDKs, service frameworks, object model extensions, event-driven customization, and enterprise integration patterns
AI proficiency as a core professional proficiency — demonstrated ability to strategically leverage AI tools to elevate documentation quality, accelerate content development, and improve the efficiency and consistency of the information development process
Strong technical aptitude — ability to engage meaningfully with deployment engineers, architects, and developers to extract and accurately document highly technical content
Excellent communication, research, and interviewing skills — ability to gather information optimally and present complex technical material clearly for diverse technical audiences
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills — comfortable working across cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and customer-facing roles
Qualification:
Degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical discipline
Experience with Teamcenter — including familiarity with its deployment architecture, BMIDE, Active Workspace, SOA framework, or ITK customization
Exposure to PLM or PDM concepts — understanding of product lifecycle management principles, BOM structures, or manufacturing industry workflows
Experience in the manufacturing, automotive, or aerospace & defense industries
Experience with XML-based authoring environments such as DITA or structured content management systems
Familiarity with software development practices such as version control, CI/CD pipelines, or scripting
