C++ Software Engineer

Project specific intro:

Modern manufacturing relies on highly automated, configurable machine tools that can be adapted quickly to different production needs - from single prototypes to large‑scale series production.

The SINUMERIK product family provides advanced control solutions for CNC machine tools - supporting programming, commissioning, and operation across a wide range of industrial applications. In other words, it is the mind and soul of the machine.

Our Budapest team develops a software suite, which enables machine manufacturers to configure, commission, and upgrade CNC machines in an automated and reproducible way. By combining engineering software with hardware‑integrated execution on the control, the solution transforms traditionally manual commissioning processes into efficient, scalable workflows.

As a result, machine production and upgrade processes become faster, more reliable, and less dependent on manual expert intervention, while ensuring consistent quality across large machine fleets.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Developing C++ applications related to CNC machine tools and automation

  • Participating in implementation, bug fixing, and continuous code improvements

  • Contributing to improving code quality and evolving an existing codebase

  • Writing clean, maintainable, and well structured code

  • Actively contributing to developer testing and Python-based test automation

  • Working in a mixed environment (C++ core, Python test and automation infrastructure)

  • Supporting efficient development and testing through automation and integrated toolchains

  • Supporting CI/CD processes (build, deployment, test execution)

  • Working with Git-based workflows (branching, merging, collaboration)

  • Developing software for both Linux and Windows platforms

  • Collaborating closely with testers and other team members in a Scrum team

  • Communicating technical topics, issues, and solutions clearly across the team

  • Contributing to shared understanding of requirements and system behavior

  • Working with hardware-integrated systems and real CNC controllers

  • Using modern development tools, including AI-assisted solutions, to improve productivity and code quality

Your success is grounded in:

  • Degree in engineering, informatics, or similar technical field

  • 2-5 years of experience in C++ software development

  • Solid experience with Git (branching, merging, daily usage)

  • Experience with build systems (preferably CMake)

  • Basic Linux knowledge

  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts (e.g. Jenkins pipelines)

  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and improve continuously

  • Openness to using modern development tools, including AI-assisted approaches, as part of daily work

  • Fluent written and spoken English (German is a plus)

You’ll stand out with:

  • Experience with Qt or modern C++ frameworks

  • Python knowledge or test automation experience

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins)

  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum environments

  • Background in industrial automation or hardware-related systems
