We are looking for a Technical Product Trainer. This position will be based in Houston, TX. Domestic relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates who reside outside the Houston area.
In this highly visible role, you will help build and deliver a scalable, competency-based technical training program that supports the development of Field Service professionals across electrical power distribution technologies. You will leverage your field expertise to develop, validate, and deliver hands-on training while partnering with technical leaders to establish consistent onboarding, safety, testing, commissioning, and equipment-specific learning pathways. The role combines technical instruction, content development, competency assessment, and continuous improvement to ensure employees are prepared to safely and effectively perform work in the field.
You'll make a difference by:
- Delivering hands-on and instructor-led training programs covering electrical power distribution equipment, testing methods, commissioning practices, troubleshooting, retrofit activities, and field service procedures.
- Building and maintaining structured training packages including instructor guides, student materials, assessments, competency trackers, practical evaluations, and revision-controlled learning content.
- Auditing, validating, and enhancing technical training content to ensure accuracy, field applicability, learner engagement, and alignment with operational requirements and safety expectations.
- Developing realistic hands-on labs, troubleshooting exercises, scenario-based learning activities, and competency assessments that reinforce safe work practices and field readiness.
- Partnering with Field Service leadership, engineering, EHS, operations, and other subject matter experts to continuously improve training programs and support workforce development initiatives.
- Supporting the development and rollout of onboarding, advanced technical training, competency tracking, and employee progression programs across the training lifecycle.
- Evaluating employee performance through practical demonstrations, knowledge assessments, competency sign-offs, coaching, remediation activities, and re-testing when needed.
You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate degree, technical diploma, trade school certification, military technical training, or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, electrical technology, power systems, industrial maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of experience with the following:
- Electrical power distribution equipment including switchgear, breakers, transformers, substations, automatic transfer systems, protective relays, and related systems.
- Field service, commissioning, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, or technical training within electrical power distribution environments.
- Electrical testing methods including insulation resistance testing, transformer testing, breaker testing, current transformer testing, relay testing, or related diagnostic procedures.
- Technical instruction, workforce development, field enablement, coaching, competency assessment, or adult learning delivery.
- Electrical safety practices including hazard recognition, lockout/tagout, risk mitigation, safe testing practices, and field operational procedures.
- Ability to travel domestically as needed to support training activities, onboarding programs, field validation efforts, and business initiatives.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience developing structured technical training programs, competency frameworks, onboarding curricula, learning pathways, and workforce readiness initiatives.
- Experience building hands-on labs, scenario-based learning exercises, technical demonstrations, troubleshooting workshops, or equipment-focused training environments.
- Familiarity with Siemens electrical distribution equipment, SIPROTEC relays, learning management systems, competency tracking tools, or similar enterprise learning platforms.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including field service leadership, engineering, EHS, operations, product lifecycle management, and technical subject matter experts to improve training effectiveness and operational readiness.

The pay range for this position is $74,970 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 5-10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
