We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Pre-Sales Engineer / Technical Account Manager / Senior Application Engineer to support Government, Defense, Aerospace, Research Laboratories, and Public Sector customers in evaluating and adopting advanced engineering simulation solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer journey, combining deep engineering expertise with consultative selling, solution architecture, technical demonstrations, proof-of-concept leadership, and strategic account engagement. This role requires close collaboration with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to position simulation technologies that solve complex, mission-critical engineering challenges.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Sales Engagement

  • Partner with Account Managers to develop and execute technical sales strategies for Government and Defense customers.
  • Engage engineering teams, program managers, procurement stakeholders, and technical leadership to understand customer objectives and engineering workflows.
  • Conduct discovery workshops to identify customer challenges and align simulation solutions to business and technical requirements.
  • Lead technical discussions throughout customer meetings, evaluations, proposal processes, and procurement cycles.
  • Position simulation software as a strategic engineering platform that enables digital engineering and innovation.

Solution Consulting

Design and recommend comprehensive simulation solutions across multiple engineering disciplines, including:

  • Structural Analysis (FEA)
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Technical Demonstrations

  • Deliver compelling, customer-focused product demonstrations aligned with specific engineering challenges.
  • Create and configure industry-relevant demonstration models for defense and aerospace applications, including:

    • Naval Systems
    • Ground Vehicles

  • Present advanced simulation workflows to technical, executive, and procurement audiences.

Proof of Concept (PoC) & Technical Evaluations

  • Lead customer evaluation projects and Proof-of-Concept initiatives.
  • Define measurable technical success criteria in collaboration with customers.
  • Execute benchmark studies and comparative simulation analyses.
  • Analyze customer models and identify workflow optimization opportunities.
  • Present technical findings, recommendations, and implementation strategies.
  • Drive successful evaluation outcomes that support commercial adoption and long-term customer success.

Technical Account Management

  • Establish trusted relationships with engineering teams, program managers, and key decision makers.
  • Act as the primary technical advisor throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Maintain regular engagement with strategic accounts and identify growth opportunities.
  • Support account planning and expansion initiatives.
  • Promote adoption of new simulation, digital engineering, and AI-driven capabilities.

Proposal & Bid Support

Support Government and Defense procurement activities by:

  • Preparing technical responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs
  • Developing solution architecture documentation
  • Creating Statements of Work (SoW)
  • Building compliance and requirements traceability matrices
  • Supporting technical pricing and licensing discussions
  • Assisting contract negotiations on technical deliverables and scope

Customer Success & Adoption

  • Guide customers during deployment, onboarding, and adoption phases.
  • Recommend simulation best practices and engineering methodologies.
  • Conduct technical health assessments and solution reviews.
  • Support customers in establishing standardized simulation workflows.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-sell and expansion into additional engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7–15 years of experience in engineering simulation, CAE consulting, application engineering, technical sales, or pre-sales.
  • Experience supporting Government, Defense, Aerospace, or Public Sector customers.
  • Strong engineering and analytical fundamentals.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to translate technical capabilities into measurable business outcomes.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience supporting defense engineering programs or aerospace product development initiatives.
  • Experience with digital engineering and model-based engineering programs.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based simulation technologies and HPC environments.
  • Experience with simulation automation using Python or scripting tools.
  • Familiarity with CAD, PLM, and systems engineering environments.
