SW QA Engineer Associate, Simcenter
We are Siemens
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our software.
We are seeking a Software QA Engineer Associate to join our international Simcenter development team and help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of cloud-delivered engineering applications used by manufacturers worldwide.
In this role, you will design and execute comprehensive test strategies, develop scalable test automation, and validate complex CAE/CFD simulation workflows across modern web and cloud environments. Working closely with software developers, product owners, architects, and domain experts in an Agile/Scrum environment, you will contribute to delivering robust, high-quality SaaS solutions that help shape the future of engineering simulation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute functional, integration, system, exploratory, and performance testing for engineering software and cloud-delivered applications.
- Validate complex CAE/CFD and simulation-driven workflows, assessing simulation setup, execution behavior, application functionality, and the credibility of engineering results.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites, validation scripts, and supporting test tools to increase regression coverage, scalability, and delivery efficiency.
- Test user interfaces and end-to-end workflows across web-based and cloud-native environments, ensuring reliable and consistent product experiences.
- Analyze test results to identify defects, performance bottlenecks, and quality risks; clearly document findings and support root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and fix verification.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, architects, and domain experts to clarify requirements, establish acceptance criteria, improve test coverage, and promote quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of hands-on software testing experience with engineering or other technically complex, production-grade software, covering test planning, design, execution, defect analysis, and validation of complex features.
- Solid CAE/CFD background, including at least 1 year of hands-on experience with simulation setup, execution, and results analysis, preferably using Simcenter STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, or similar engineering simulation tools.
- Hands-on experience with modern web test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar technologies.
- Strong programming or scripting skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java, with the ability to develop and maintain effective test automation and validation solutions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar, along with working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
- General understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures, Agile software development methodologies, and strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and independent working skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with API and performance testing tools such as Postman, Apache JMeter, Gatling, or similar.
- Deeper understanding of engineering simulation workflows, including problem formulation, meshing, physics modeling, solver configuration, convergence, numerical stability, and simulation result validation.
- Experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and an understanding of core cloud services and principles.
- Experience with HPC and parallel simulation environments, including Linux clusters, MPI-based execution, and workload schedulers such as Slurm or PBS.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
