The Quality Technician is responsible for managing and analyzing customer returns under warranty, ensuring thorough evaluation and resolution of reported product issues. This role focuses on the systematic diagnosis, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and repair of returned units down to the component level, working closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to identify root causes, drive corrective actions, and prevent recurrence. A key contributor to the warranty process, this position ensures that customer concerns are addressed with precision, efficiency, and a commitment to continuous product improvement.


As a Quality Technician, you will:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic test equipment and RMA units down to the component level, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of technical issues
  • Support engineers and other professionals by replicating product failures, identifying root causes, and supporting the development of effective corrective solutions
  • Perform a full range of technical functions including setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems and equipment
  • Work proficiently with both SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and through-hole components during repair and assembly activities
  • Modify systems and execute hardware and software upgrades to meet evolving product and operational requirements
  • Implement product and process revisions in accordance with Engineering Change Notes (ECNs), ensuring compliance and documentation accuracy
  • Interpret and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to complete system interconnections accurately
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the manager to support departmental objectives and changing business needs.
  • Operate effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team, adapting to shifting priorities and project demands

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as an Electronic Technician or in a similar technical role
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting, failure analysis, and repair of electronic systems and test equipment at the component level
  • Strong proficiency with SMT and through-hole soldering techniques and component identification
  • Demonstrated experience with hardware and software system upgrades and modifications
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation
  • Solid understanding of Engineering Change Note (ECN) processes and implementation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical and detail-oriented approach
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers and cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field
  • Experience in a manufacturing, R&D, or product development environment
  • Familiarity with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling procedures and safety standards
  • Experience with RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) processes and documentation

The pay range for this position is $63,260 - $108,446 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
