Bid Engineer
As Australia’s infrastructure and industrial landscape continues to evolve, Siemens is playing a critical role in enabling the next generation of electrification, automation and digitalisation solutions across a diverse range of industries. Through our Electrification & Automation business, we deliver innovative power distribution, automation, digitalisation and energy solutions that help customers build resilient, sustainable and high-performing operations.
Due to growth, Siemens is currently looking for a detail-oriented and commercially aware Bid Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality bids and proposals across Australia. Working closely with the Bid Leader and collaborating across engineering, sales and commercial teams, you’ll play a critical role in developing technically sound, competitive and customer-focused tender submissions that leverage Siemens’ leading Electrification and Automation technologies.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to complex infrastructure and industrial projects across a broad range of industries, including utilities, energy, renewables, resources, manufacturing, transportation, water and infrastructure. The successful candidate will:
- Prepare and coordinate technical and commercial tender submissions, analysing RFQs and RFPs to define system architectures, equipment selection and technical compliance across Siemens’ MV/LV, power distribution, automation and digital solutions portfolio.
- Support the Bid Leader throughout the end-to-end bid process, coordinating inputs from engineering, procurement, commercial and delivery teams while maintaining rigorous document organisation and version control.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, pricing inputs and bills of materials, and identify and document technical and commercial risks, assumptions and exclusions in collaboration with legal and commercial teams.
- Contribute to integrating automation, electrification and digitalisation solutions into cohesive offerings, supporting the development of value propositions and responding to technical clarifications from customers during the bid phase.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, building standardised solution libraries and staying current on industry trends, technologies and customer expectations.
You’ll have experience in tendering, proposals or engineering within electrical, infrastructure or industrial sectors, with a solid understanding of MV/LV systems, power distribution, switchgear and related electrical technologies. You’re highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and bring strong technical writing, costing and stakeholder coordination skills. A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
You’ll be collaborative and proactive, working effectively across engineering, sales and delivery teams to drive successful bid outcomes. You have an eye for detail and a commercial mindset - understanding the balance between cost, risk and value — and you’re always looking for ways to improve processes and share knowledge across the team.
