We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Manager (SQM) who will be responsible for leading a supplier quality assurance program to ensure system components and materials meet our specification requirements and production schedules. This role acts as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal quality, engineering, and procurement teams to drive continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and long-term supplier partnerships.
This position directly reports to Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock, Director of Quality Management.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Supplier Quality Leadership
- Develop and implement the supplier quality strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Direct a team of Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) to ensure consistent, high-quality supplier performance.
- Partner with Procurement and Engineering (who are co-located at our Sacramento factory) to select, qualify, and develop suppliers.
- Supplier Evaluation & Auditing
- Conduct supplier audits (process, system, and product) in accordance with ISO 9001 and internal Siemens standards. Conduct internal quality audits and maintain our ISO 9000 certification at Siemens Mobility.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, and compliance with technical specifications.
- Manage supplier scorecards and performance metrics (PPAP, …).
- Develop methods for inspection, testing, sampling and training. Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Develop long-term supplier relationships, generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
- Quality Assurance & Problem Solving
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action methods (5-Why, 8D) for supplier-related issues.
- Implement and monitor supplier quality important metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure robust incoming inspection processes and material certification compliance.
- New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on supplier readiness, PPAP, FAI, and validation activities.
- Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and early supplier involvement (ESI) in product development.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
- Experience: 5+ years in supplier quality, quality engineering, or supply chain management of large, sophisticated industrial equipment. Experience in rail vehicle manufacturing or a similar industry is a plus.
- Strong understanding of supplier auditing, process capability, and quality system evaluation.
- In-depth knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and PPAP methodologies.
- 30% travel requirement including some international travel.

The pay range for this position is $165,000 - $200,000 annually with a target incentive of 15% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
