About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:
The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!
The EA Business Unit in Wendell, North Carolina, which is its U.S. headquarters, focuses on photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager - Systems. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.
As the Engineering Manager - Systems, you will lead and manage the group of project engineers and team leads responsible of order engineering, as well as maintaining and improving the current KDB (Knowledge Database), supporting the MV business targets of Delivery Reliability, Quality and Productivity.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Manage the engineering schedules of all engineers and to make sure to release all the orders on-time.
- Be a technical lead while guiding a team of engineers, designers and drafters and also training new engineers.
- This is a leadership position that will require a high degree of motivation and accountability, strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to build and lead a high-performance
- Review nonconformance (NCC) cases & OCNs to come with preventive action items.
- Provide support and ensure appropriate resources are assigned to the following functional teams (Product Support): R&D, Technical Product Managers, and Engineering Liaison in the factory.
- Lead process improvement initiatives related to the KDB development
- Take a lead to provide factory support during the manufacture of projects to ensure that the final deliverable is true to your design. Also, in the process to provide technical support to customers.
- Proactive approach on technical support requests from AE/Sales/BDM/Customers and Solution PEs, and to provide the best lead times possible given the current engineering & factory load (work with MS).
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineered solutions development with expertise in related products and power systems
- Proven experience managing a team of electrical engineers, designers & drafter (preference given to experience in the MV power distribution industry).
- Proven experience working with power distribution switchgear and systems.
- Understanding of power systems with protection, controls, and automation applications
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment for highly customized and engineered products.
- Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications regarding the application of power distribution equipment and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner.
- Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear.
- Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear, preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in electrical engineering is a plus
- Direct experience with medium voltage Air and Gas Insulated voltage switchgear (4.16kV to 38kV) and/or low voltage motor control centers (480V).
- Experience with Siemens medium voltage switchgear highly preferred
- Experience installing or operating medium voltage switchgear (4.16kV to 38kV)
- Previous experience with SAP, Salesforce knowledge, or equivalent CRM platform. Able to create reports, modify existing ones, create dashboards, request changes in the tool.

The pay range for this position is $102,459 - $175,644 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
