Job Summary:
As a Key Expert in Fire Extinguishing Technologies at Siemens, you are a globally recognized authority and thought leader dedicated to advancing the science, engineering, and application of fire suppression. 
This strategic role is designed for an individual who possesses unparalleled technical expertise in fire dynamics, extinguishing agents, and the design and performance of various suppression system types and technologies. 
You will have a deep understanding of evolving safety regulations and the specific needs for effective extinguishing solutions in critical environments. 
You will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction, driving innovation, and ensuring Siemens remains at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge, reliable, and compliant fire extinguishing solutions that protect lives and assets worldwide. Your insights will directly influence product roadmaps, business strategy, and the overall technological advancement of our fire suppression portfolio.

Key responsibilities:
1. Deep Domain & Customer Expertise in Fire Extinguishing:
o Serve as the ultimate technical authority within the specialized field of fire suppression, encompassing fire dynamics as it relates to extinguishing design, application, and performance of various suppression systems.
o Maintain a fundamental and nuanced understanding of global fire safety regulations (e.g., NFPA 12, 13, 17, 2001; EN 15004, ISO standards) specifically pertaining to extinguishing systems, market trends, and customer requirements for effective fire suppression across diverse industries (e.g., data centers, industrial plants, commercial buildings, transportation).
o Anticipate future technical challenges and opportunities in fire suppression, proactively guiding the organization towards innovative, compliant, and highly effective extinguishing solutions that enhance life safety and asset protection.
2. Strategic Technical Leadership & Influence in Fire Suppression:
o Identify, evaluate, and champion new technologies, materials, and methodologies (e.g., sustainable extinguishing agents, advanced nozzle designs, optimized discharge systems, intelligent suppression controls) that have the potential to deliver substantial safety improvements and business impact.
o Proactively supports the development, evolution, and implementation of next-generation fire suppression solutions, advanced extinguishing systems, and optimized suppression strategies aligned with Siemens' overarching strategic objectives.
3. Advisory & Cross-Functional Guidance on Extinguishing Systems:
o Act as a trusted and indispensable advisor and support to various Segments, Business Units, Departments, and Technology Research Groups, providing expert consultation and strategic guidance on complex extinguishing system challenges, agent selection, design optimization, hydraulic calculations, and compliance requirements.
o Collaborate extensively with R&D teams, product development groups, sales, and external partners to define technical roadmaps for fire extinguishing products, set strategic priorities, and ensure alignment with global suppression standards and customer expectations.
o Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices in fire suppression across organizational boundaries, fostering a cohesive, collaborative, and innovation-driven environment.
4. External Recognition & Network Leverage in Fire Suppression:
o Represent Siemens as a recognized expert in the broader scientific, academic, and industrial communities focused on fire suppression and extinguishing agents, contributing to standards bodies, conferences, publications, and industry forums.
o Actively build and leverage a robust external network of academic researchers, industry experts, regulatory officials, and professional associations to identify emerging trends, potential partnerships, and new opportunities in fire suppression.
o Enhance Siemens' reputation as a technological leader in fire extinguishing through thought leadership, active engagement with external stakeholders, and the dissemination of groundbreaking work.
5. Technology Stewardship & Future-Proofing for Extinguishing:
o Participates in the long-term strategic direction, health, and evolution of Siemens' fire extinguishing technology portfolio.
o Continuously monitor, evaluate, and assess disruptive technologies and regulatory changes in fire suppression in his business perimeter, understanding their potential impact and strategically integrating relevant advancements into Siemens' extinguishing offerings.
o Develop proactive strategies for his perimeter to mitigate risks associated with evolving fire hazards and ensure Siemens' readiness for future challenges and opportunities in life safety and asset protection specifically through suppression.
6. Mentorship & Capability Building in Fire Suppression:
o Serve as a mentor, coach, and role model for technical professionals across the organization, fostering their growth, development, and expertise within the specialized field of fire suppression engineering.
o Develop and deliver specialized training programs, workshops, and technical forums to disseminate advanced knowledge, best practices, and innovative techniques in fire suppression and extinguishing system design throughout Siemens.
o Cultivate a strong technical talent pipeline in the Siemens organization by actively supporting and guiding junior and mid-level engineers and researchers in fire suppression, inspiring the next generation of extinguishing experts.

Required Skills & Qualifications :
Education: Master's. in, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification in Fire Protection Engineering is highly desirable.
Experience: Extensive proven experience (typically 15+ years) in a highly specialized technical role within the fire suppression industry, with a significant track record of innovation, strategic impact, and successful project delivery in fire extinguishing systems.
Technical Acumen: Exceptional depth of technical expertise in:
o Fire dynamics, combustion science, and heat transfer as they specifically apply to extinguishing effectiveness and agent interaction.
o Design, application, and performance of various fire suppression systems (e.g.water mist, Inert, CO2, etc).
o Chemical properties, environmental impact, and safety considerations of various extinguishing agents.
o Global fire safety codes and standards specifically for extinguishing systems (e.g., NFPA 12, 13, 17, 2001; EN 15004, ISO standards, local building codes).
o Advanced hydraulic calculations, system sizing, and modeling for fire suppression systems.
o Experience with advanced modeling and simulation tools for fire suppression performance is a significant plus.
Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to drive strategic technical initiatives, influence business outcomes, and align technological advancements in fire suppression with corporate objectives and market needs.
Customer Focus: Strong understanding of customer safety needs, critical asset protection requirements, and the ability to translate these into compelling, compliant, and highly effective fire extinguishing solutions.
Communication & Influence: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, from technical teams to executive leadership and external regulatory bodies.
Leadership & Mentorship: Proven leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities, with a passion for developing others and fostering a collaborative, safety-first environment focused on extinguishing excellence.
Networking: Active participation and recognition within relevant external scientific or industry communities with a strong professional network in fire suppression.
Innovation Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying and assessing disruptive technologies and regulatory changes, coupled with a relentless drive for continuous learning and innovation in fire extinguishing.
