Software Engineer in Dynamics
We are Siemens
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our software.
Please note that, due to the current integration framework, this opportunity is currently available exclusively to employees of Altair and DISW. We appreciate your understanding and collaboration during this transitional period. This communication does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment opportunities beyond the current scope.
We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer – Structural Dynamics to join our Simcenter Nastran team. If you’re passionate about applying advanced engineering, mathematics, and software skills to develop high-performance algorithms for structural engineering analysis, this is your chance to create an impact.
Interested in using your advanced engineering, mathematics and software skills to help build products for the #1 supplier of industrial software in the world?
In this position, you will design, implement, and maintain high-performance algorithms used in Structural Engineering analyses! You'll work on the Simcenter Nastran application, primarily in the Structural Dynamics and Vibro-acoustics domain. You'll join the Dynamics Group, and work with the Software Engineering Manager for the Structural Dynamics and Numerical Methods Team.
Area of responsibility
In this role, you will develop in-depth knowledge of structural dynamics algorithms in Nastran, in particular, direct/modal frequency/transient response of finite element analyses of structures. We work in an Agile team to help refine and estimate development items supporting customer requirements. We design, implement, and test new features, and extensions to existing functionality. Lastly, you will set an example by using the most current development approach that is practical for implementing new features.
You’ll make a difference by
Working effectively within Scrum Team, by focusing on determining the best algorithmic approach and delivering testable implementations as frequently as possible. You will also be expected to support the team by focusing equally on team and individual goals and pursuing opportunities to collaborate. Extend current finite element analyses in Nastran to deliver faster and more accurate answers to complex engineering problems through algorithmic improvements. Learn to use Nastran-specific utilities for optimally managing system resources, e.g., memory and I/O. Work with team to write effective tests for new and existing code, supporting our zero-regression policy.
Your tasks
Design and implement real and complex eigenvalue, frequency response, and transient response algorithms for both direct and modal methods in structural dynamics. Build, compile, and debug sophisticated code, both in-house and externally developed. Support the goals of the team, via active participation in planning, daily scrum, sprint review, and retrospectives. Thoroughly understand core algorithms for Structural Mechanics. Fix customer issues in a timely manner, as prioritized in collaboration with the product owner.
