As an E-house Lead Engineer, you will play a critical role in monitoring and planning modular structure engineering projects within the datacenter industry. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the engineering and execution of projects related to modular substations and power distribution systems for international data centers.

In this position, you are accountable for delivering the technical solution for each project. This entails ensuring that all engineering and realization activities are completed within the agreed timeline and budget. Your leadership will be essential in guiding the project from the initial engineering phase through to successful completion, meeting both technical requirements and client expectations.

In this position, you will work for the E-house team for data centers, which consists of around 25 engineers. We are looking for an E-house Lead Engineer  to fit into this close-knit and driven team. The E-house team belongs to the Data Centre Electrification & Automation department, which manages international multidisciplinary projects. The engineering department consists of about 100 plus engineers divided over 7 different discipline groups.

The department falls under the Smart Infrastructure division; one of the world's largest suppliers of products, systems, solutions and services for the sustainable, reliable and efficient distribution of energy.

Your responsibilities

The E-house Lead Engineer holds primary responsibility for the complete engineering process of modular structure solutions tailored to customer requirements. This role involves the direct management and supervision of both electrical and mechanical engineers within the team. Under the E-house Lead Engineer's guidance, these team members are tasked with developing and executing all phases of engineering for each project.

Within the scope of projects, the E-house Lead Engineer oversees the engineering, manufacturing, installation, integration, and commissioning of comprehensive power distribution systems. These systems include, but are not limited to, medium and low voltage switchgear, transformers, power distribution units, bus bar systems, as well as digital protection, automation, and monitoring systems. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning are also part of our scope. All of these elements are incorporated within modular solutions such as E-Houses and Skids to meet the demands of complex data center environments.

The E-house Lead Engineer maintains an overview and ensures that the various designs and disciplines are functionally aligned in order to fulfill the scope within agreed budget and schedule. The short lead times and high technical requirements of our customers create a dynamic environment which needs to be managed well.

Besides coordinating between the internal stakeholders like the project manager, procurement, sales, document control and the engineering teams, you also have contact with the client. Site coordination for our solutions are pivotal for the success of the project.

Work mainly takes place from our office in The Hague, the Netherlands. In addition, the position involves regular visits to factories, suppliers and project sites both in the Netherlands and internationally. This might include supervising factory testing and attending meetings with the customer.

Technical Expertise

  • Able to develop engineering and execution plans for modular structures, closely monitor manufacturing progress, and ensure completion of all deliverables.
  • Possesses experience in designing distribution substation layouts, selecting appropriate components and cabling, and specifying MV/LV termination kits, earthing, and grounding systems.
  • Demonstrates practical and theoretical knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and related calculations such as short-circuit and selectivity analysis. Familiarity with standards like IEC 61439 is required.

Professional Experience and Education

  • Holds a completed Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Has at least 5+ to 10+ years of work experience as a (lead) engineer on multidisciplinary electrotechnical projects.

  • Preferably an EU national with knowledge of the Dutch language, enabling last-minute travel as required.
  • Holds a valid driving license.
