Are you ready to dive into the exciting world where cutting-edge AI meets the physical world? Here at Siemens, we're building intelligent systems that bring generative AI to life, creating products that combine advanced machine learning with real-time interaction. This means working with everything from cloud services and embedded computing to intelligent applications!

Transform the everyday with us!

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) Intern, you'll join a high-impact team at the forefront of developing these foundational systems. This isn't just about theory - you'll get hands-on experience writing production-grade software, collaborating closely with experienced engineers and researchers, and learning how to build systems where AI models not only reason, but perceive, respond, and act.

This internship is perfect for aspiring engineers eager to learn how to ship real products and make a tangible impact. You'll gain valuable experience working across the stack, contributing to core services, and growing your skills alongside a supportive technical team dedicated to solving challenging, high-ownership problems.

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Software Development Engineering Internship, beginning May 18 or June 1, 2026. This position is based in the Seattle, WA metro-area.

You’ll make an impact by:
  • Learning and Contributing: Write clean, testable, and maintainable code for our production systems, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Building and Debugging: Assist in building and debugging services that power our AI workloads and product experiences.
  • Collaborating and Growing: Work alongside other engineers on system design discussions and feature implementation.
  • Engaging and Improving: Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, gaining insights into best practices.
  • Exploring New Tech: Continuously learn about new tools and technologies as our stack evolves in a fast-paced environment.
Technologies used in this role:
  • Programming Languages: Python, Go, TypeScript
  • ML / AI: PyTorch, HuggingFace, ONNX, LangChain
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Redis, Postgres, GraphQL
  • DevOps & Monitoring: GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Datadog
  • Note: Experience with the full technology stack is not required. Strong fundamentals, curiosity, and a willingness to learn are highly valued.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Rising junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates must not graduate prior to September 2026.
  • Coursework or personal project experience with at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or Go.
  • Foundational understanding of core computer science concepts, including algorithms, data structures, and basic system design.
  • Strong interest in machine learning and intelligent systems.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience as a Siemens intern.
  • Willing to relocate to Seattle, WA and travel as required (mileage reimbursement and housing stipend will be provided if required to relocate more than 50 miles from your permanent address).
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) on site for the duration of the 12-week summer internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous internship or academic project experience related to machine learning, robotics, or distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based development platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) through coursework or personal projects.
  • Exposure to tools used for data processing, model inference, or real-time interaction.
  • Interest in building innovative products that blend software with the physical world.
