We are looking for Mechanical Engineer - Interior Fittings
You’ll make a difference by
- Design, develop, and integrate interior and exterior train components, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and Engineering Quality, Cost, and Delivery commitments.
- Take full ownership of work packages for specific interior components, delegated by a senior engineer from Headquarters (HQ).
- Create and modify components within your scope of responsibility using Creo Parametric.
- Generate accurate 2D drawings and comprehensive technical specifications for component fabrication and installation.
- Conduct feasibility studies, ergonomic assessments, and risk analyses to identify potential issues and propose effective solutions.
- Coordinate and communicate regularly with a senior Engineer from HQ to ensure alignment and progress.
- Implement best practices in areas such as material selection, tolerance stack-up, perceived quality, manufacturing knowledge, serviceability, and assembly.
- Possess demonstrated experience in designing FRP/GRP, sheet metal parts & assemblies, and forged, machined, and casted parts & assemblies.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of materials used for interior and exterior components, including composites, plastics, rubbers, wood, and surface coatings.
- Support design reviews with cross-functional teams, aligning with project/tender milestones and securing necessary design release approvals.
- Apply experience in fitting principles, welded joint design, bolting, bonding, and surface treatments in accordance with EN standards.
- Provide support for the localization and First Article Inspection (FAI) of major equipment and its sub-systems, as requested and approved by the Senior Engineer from HQ.
- Prepare, follow up on, and verify test procedures proposed by suppliers or HQ.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated 5+ years of experience within the Rolling Stock domain (Metro, Commuter Rail, High Speed), specifically focusing on interior and exterior train outfitting.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools, with a preference for Creo Parametric, and experience with ERP systems like SAP.
- Proven ability to clarify interfaces with both internal and external partners to ensure seamless integration of train outfitting components.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential for effective coordination and reporting; German language knowledge is a valuable asset.
- Adept at collaborating effectively within an international and multicultural environment, navigating a matrix organizational structure.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel both locally and internationally as required by project demands.
