Position Location: This role is hybrid remote/in-office and supports our Rolling Meadows, IL branch location, which serves customers throughout the greater Chicago, IL area.

As a Senior Energy Engineer – Energy Services, you will:

  • Perform or lead preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify facility improvement measures (FIMs) and opportunities.
  • Assist sales in identification and qualification of potential energy services
  • projects and service agreements.
  • Monitor project and service agreement performance.
  • Manage relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Coordinates and leads facility site visits and communicates basic design
  • concepts with outside vendors, consultants, or Siemens Project Managers as
  • they pertain to the scope of the FIMs.
  • Mentor less experienced energy services staff.
  • Develop and review basic design concepts and other written documentation relating to recommended FIMs with sales and management. Validates accuracy of descriptions, savings potential, cost estimates, and back-up data for verifying FIMs.
  • Use financial spreadsheets to prepare project FIM-by-FIM cost and savings financial models.
  • Work with external partners to secure funding (grants, loans, incentives) on behalf of customers. May participate in committee meetings to provide input.
  • Develop customer reports, presentations, and proposals to communicate ROI, lifecycle costing, and internal rate of return.
  • Perform or lead preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify FIMs and opportunities. Take equipment measurements (including data logs and equipment trends) or reviews measurements taken by others to develop energy savings opportunities.
  • Work with and inform Sustainability Portfolio team on building energy simulation programs and Excel spreadsheet calculations to determine project energy savings. Analyze operational costs to identify operational savings.
  • Support the development of preliminary and final energy services proposals.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Provide project development assistance to sell stand-alone energy service projects or for development of sustainable solutions

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in energy engineering
  • 2+ years of experience leading energy services teams and mentoring less experienced energy services staff
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams)
  • Must be able to demonstrate:
    • Experience working in a team environment providing dedicated support to customers
    • Knowledge of common HVAC and electrical building codes
    • Presentation skills
    • Ability to use data analysis tools to identify trends and patterns
    • Working knowledge of data logging equipment and trending capability of building automation systems
    • Working knowledge of industry standards and guidelines, such as ASHRAE
    • Advanced knowledge of HVAC, building control, lighting, building envelope, and domestic water systems
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred

The pay range for this position is $82,538 - $141,494 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
