We’re currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Controller to join our dynamic team at the TransPennine Express Regional Operations Centre (ROC) in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a fast-paced environment, where you’ll be at the heart of operations for our Class 185 rolling stock.
In this critical position, you’ll oversee the safe and efficient running of maintenance control, providing first-line technical support to operational staff via phone, and managing faults and major incidents across the rail network. Your work will be essential to the day-to-day success of the project—minimising service disruptions and ensuring exceptional experiences for both our customers and passengers.

- Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) in the Control Room, offering first-line technical support to operational staff via phone.
- Manage mainline failures and serious incidents, minimizing disruption to passengers and Siemens operations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address current needs and foster strong working relationships.
- Ensure maintenance compliance with Rail Group Standards and Siemens Rolling Stock Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI).
- Diagnose faults remotely using available maintenance tools and provide technical guidance to Line of Route staff.
- Maintain fleet competence, oversee fleet downloads and electronic data, and perform Technical Riding Inspector duties when required.
- Plan and coordinate depot maintenance, including scheduled and unscheduled activities.
- Accurately report safety incidents and defects, ensuring all IT systems are updated and HSQE policies are followed.

- Background in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Previous experience within a rolling stock environment
- Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures
- Advanced knowledge of IT systems / software
- Good communication, planning and organisational skills
