This position will be based on-site in Princeton, NJ.
Role Description
We are seeking a passionate and forward-thinking AI/ML Researcher with a strong track record in industrial applications to join our Foundational Technology team at Siemens, where you will help shape the future of intelligent systems in real-world environments.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving the design and development of next-generation AI/ML solutions and intelligent system architectures that support Siemens’ strategic priorities in electrification, energy efficiency, and sustainability. You’ll have the opportunity to work hands-on with Siemens’ proprietary design and simulation platforms, gaining exposure to advanced tools that are accelerating innovation across industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply AI/ML techniques to engineering challenges in design, manufacturing, and simulation.
- Design and develop knowledge synthesis and reasoning frameworks for complex industrial systems.
- Contribute to the development of autonomous decision-making agents operating in dynamic and uncertain environments.
- Collaborate on fast-paced co-creation projects with evolving requirements, particularly in the areas of program analysis and synthesis.
- Engage in low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) research initiatives, exploring novel AI/ML concepts and methodologies.
- Build prototypes and proof-of-concept systems to validate research hypotheses and demonstrate feasibility.
- Develop technology demonstrators and support the transition of innovations into business units.
- Integrate AI/ML techniques to enhance device modeling, performance prediction, and reliability analysis in industrial contexts.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate research outcomes into scalable, real-world technologies and commercial products.
- Publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals and present at leading international conferences.
- Evaluate and benchmark emerging technologies, contributing to Siemens’ intellectual property portfolio.
- Support the technology transfer process, ensuring smooth integration of research outputs into product development pipelines.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD graduate in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines.
- Minimum of 2 years of research or development experience in industrial area, including doctoral-level research.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Excellent command of English, with demonstrated ability in technical writing, documentation, and collaboration within multidisciplinary research environments.
- Technical Expertise:
- Minimum 2 years of research experience applying AI/ML techniques to engineering applications, including design, manufacturing, and simulation.
- At least 2 years of experience in decision-making methodologies, such as reinforcement learning and AI planning.
- Proven domain expertise in one or more of the following: Electrical Design, Mechanical Design, or Systems Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with graph-structured data and associated algorithms for representation, analysis, and learning.
- Proficiency in Python, with practical knowledge of deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with large-scale reasoning models, particularly those capable of operating across multiple modalities such as text, code, and graph data, is considered an asset.
- Minimum 4+ years of research experience applying AI/ML techniques to engineering applications, including design, manufacturing, and simulation.
- At least 4+ years of experience in decision-making methodologies, such as reinforcement learning and AI planning.
- Familiarity with Siemens design tools, such as NX, Team Center, Expedition, and Caliber, with a demonstrated track record of user experience and practical application
- A track record of peer-reviewed publications or granted patents in power electronics design or AI/ML applications in device engineering.

The pay range for this position is $90,510 - $155,160 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
