Are you interested in developing new energy market models and optimization functions for real industrial smart grid applications? This is a 6-12 month opportunity that may be the right internship opportunity for you!

In this role you will work on-site in Princeton, NJ.

With the Autonomous Systems and Control group you will investigate new energy market models and optimization functions for smart grids. Our close contact with different business units in Siemens provides the opportunity to contribute to and gain experience in real industrial applications. During this internship, you will experience the excitement and challenges of industrial research. An internship with Siemens Technology is a great opportunity for students to gain real-world experience in a diverse work environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to industrial software projects on modeling and optimization for energy markets and smart grids
  • Collaborate and exchange ideas with experts in the fields of modeling, control and optimization
  • Implement concepts and solutions in Python programming language.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or current M.Sc. or PhD student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar majors
  • Programming knowledge and hands-on experience with Python, Git and common coding principles, e.g., writing clean, reusable code
  • Domain knowledge in energy systems
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Advanced algorithm development
  • Experience in power systems, energy trading and ancillary services
  • Mathematical optimization
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic, interdisciplinary team of experts

May consider sponsorship of J-1 visa students (6-12 months), dependent upon program requirements.

You’ll Benefit From
The hourly pay range for this position $25.00 - $45.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
