We are looking for a Service Operations Manager (Head of Depot)

You’ll make a difference by

  • Defines, decides and ensures implementation of Customer Service related strategy, policies and guidelines of the respective organizational unit from a commercial and technical point of view.
  • Management Function: Responsible for overall Management of Depot operation
  • Leads the maintenance organization and directs section managers with respect to daily business and to long term planning.
  • Managing a safe & efficient maintenance service within the target budget and the contractual performance criteria.
  • Indirect Supervisory: Section Managers of  Fleet Maintenance, Maintenance Delivery and  Performance Manager, Depot IT, CORMAP KU, Depot SCM, Depot Procurement, Depot M&L, Plant maintenance etc,
  • Commercial Controller, Quality Manager, EH&S Manager, Training Manager, Service engineering, M&L Manager
  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of the depot operations including management of processes, peoples, resources, M&Ps, Locomotives, facilities, and assets.
  • Responsibility for the maintenance budget of the Locomotive fleet, Depot M&Ps and all installed facilities & assets assigned to the depot.
  • Represent Siemens in regular reviews with customer and demonstrate improved service efficiency, product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates organizational commitment and motivates the depot employees on fulfilling EHS, Security & compliance matters.
  • Ensure that the maintenance is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the set standards and Processes.
  • Defining and monitoring compliance with security objectives
  • Participate in developing short, medium and long term plans to achieve contract requirements in a cost effective manner.
  • Coordination and agreement of all activities & meeting with the next higher internal and external management level.
  • Ensure availability of adequate & necessary resources for depot operations.
  • Participate in establishing budgets. Responsible for monitoring progress and delivery to budget.
  • Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the performance regime, like fleet availability and depot performance trends, developing improvement proposals.
  • Monitor control & improve the organizational KPIs, driving business improvement.
  • Leading identification & analysis of business risks including operational, commercial, safety, security etc. and developing mitigation plans to minimize their impact on project outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in productivity & quality using Lean, Six sigma to achieve strategic targets.
  • Take measures to manage all maintenance works following the applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Overall responsible for Supply Chain Management for all necessary materials, consumables, tools, etc. for maintenance, including procurement strategy, purchase order process, transport, and warehouse management for Depot.
  • Implementation of standard service organization, processes, and roles, without deviations of global organization standard.
  • Responsible for infrastructure (planning, procurement, and maintenance, within the contractual responsibilities of Siemens).
  • Decision about investments, extension of contracts with subcontractors and business partners, from an economic point of view.
  • Ensure training, skill upgradation and competency management activities are executed as per plan.
  • Ensure motivation among the workforce is maintained through adequate engagement, growth talks, rewards & recognition as per Siemens internal guidelines.
  • Initiation of necessary disciplinary actions.
  • Tools, equipment, machinery operated/us - Personal computer and general office software CMMS / CORMAP
  • Is fully responsible for the depot operations budget
  • Overall responsibility for implementation of the safety policy of the organization
  • Overall responsibility for Environment, Health & Safety (EHS). Takes measures for management of all maintenance works in compliance with the applicable safety rules and regulations and, thus, for ensuring a safe maintenance environment.
  • Follows the applicable Safety Rules, Regulations and Procedures and motivates the workforce.

Desired Skills:

·       Experience of 15-20 years in leading a large team

·       Bachelor’s degree in engineering with min. 20 years of work experience.

·       Must have min. 15 years working experiences in core operations of a rolling stock manufacturing plant or a maintenance depot at managerial positions.

·       Deep Knowledge of railway safety regulation

·       Deep knowledge of LEAN production methodologies

·       Good understanding of depot operation processes

·       Good knowledge of IT systems & CMMS.

·       People Management experience.

·       Special Skills and Aptitudes (Communication, etc.)

·       Good command of both the spoken and written English language

·       Excellent written & verbal communication skills

·       Good understanding of analytical and investigative principles and procedures

·       Strong organizational skills, people Management skill and leadership ability and focus on strategic direction.

·       Requirement for standard initial & ongoing training

·       D9 locomotive systems/ CMMS/CORMAP/MMIS
