Energy Expert \ Specialist – Project & Service Operations (Built Environment)

The Energy Expert \ Specialist plays a pivotal role in driving energy efficiency and sustainability across commercial buildings, office complexes, and mixed-use developments. Embedded within the Project and Service Operations team, this role is responsible for integrating energy-efficient design into new developments, optimizing operational energy performance, and ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. The Energy Expert \ Specialist will collaborate across project delivery and facilities management teams to deliver measurable energy and cost savings.

You will make an impact with the following...

Project Phase:
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to embed energy efficiency and sustainability principles into new construction and retrofit projects
  • Evaluate and recommend energy-efficient technologies and systems (e.g., HVAC, lighting, BMS, renewables)
  • Support the achievement of green building certifications (e.g., BCA Green Mark, LEED, WELL)
  • Conduct energy modeling and life-cycle cost analysis to inform design decisions
  • Review and validate energy-related design submissions and commissioning plans
Service Operations Phase:
  • Monitor and analyze energy consumption across building assets using BMS and EMS platforms
  • Competent in review BMS/SCADA dashboard to identify inconsistency and improvement measures
  • Familiar with Green Mark [TSE, MEI, etc] and EEOA [MEES, EEOA, REG] requirement
  • Identify and implement Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) to reduce energy use and operational costs
  • Lead retro-commissioning and continuous commissioning initiatives to maintain optimal system performance
  • Develop and manage energy performance contracts and service-level agreements with vendors
Compliance & Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with local energy and environmental regulations (e.g., Singapore’s Energy Conservation Act, Periodic Energy Audit)
  • Prepare and present energy performance reports, dashboards, and sustainability metrics to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support audits and inspections by regulatory bodies and certification agencies
  • Understanding of Measurement & Verification (M&V) requirement and instrumentation verification
Stakeholder Engagement & Training:
  • Work closely with project managers, facility managers, tenants, and service providers to align energy goals
  • Conduct training and awareness programs to promote energy-conscious practices among staff and occupants
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on energy efficiency and sustainability within the organization

Your Defining Qualities...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, Building Services, or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM), Green Mark Professional (GMP), BCA EA, EEOA, LEED AP, or equivalent
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in energy management, with exposure to both project development and operational environments
  • Strong understanding of building systems, energy modeling, and sustainability frameworks
  • Proficient in energy analytics tools, BMS/EMS platforms
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools
