Your Impact on the Team:

We are looking for a Power Systems Consultant to join our Power Technologies International (PTI) team within Grid Software. This role is critical to the planning and integration of renewables, storage, and FACTS into the electrical grid.

You will be key in performing large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for strategic clients such as power producers, independent system operators, and transmission providers. Your work will develop solutions that ensure safe and reliable power system operations, directly contributing to grid modernization.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Perform transmission planning through the application of power systems engineering principles to simulate and analyze the power system's steady-state and dynamic behavior.
  • Utilize industry-leading tools such as PSSE to conduct power flow, short-circuit, and transient stability analyses, among others.
  • Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Work in small project teams, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and projects are completed within budget and schedule.
  • Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis.
  • Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Deliver on-site technical consulting/training services.

What we're looking for (Minimum Requirements):

  • Postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in the electric power industry (time earning an advanced relevant degree and relevant internships may be considered towards the one-year experience requirement).
  • Demonstrable practical experience using advanced power systems analysis software, specifically PSSE.
  • Knowledge (through experience, coursework, or applicable related internship) of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability.
  • Ability to travel 10% domestically.
  • Advanced English proficiency (conversational and technical) is essential.

It would be a plus if you have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Prior experience in Power System Consulting.
  • Prior experience in EMT studies (Electromagnetic Transients).
  • Transmission system planning or operations experience.
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
  • Knowledge of other power analysis software (e.g., PSCAD, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
  • Programming skills (Python, MATLAB) for automation and data post-processing.
