About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

Siemens is a global technology powerhouse that has stood for engineering excellence, innovation, quality, reliability, and internationality.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Electrification & Automation (EA) business unit is headquartered in Wendell, NC. The EA Business Unit has a diverse portfolio of products, including, but not limited to, low-voltage MCC, CMR fuse saver, MV switchgear, MV circuit breakers, and metering, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relay maintenance and systems of a standard nature.

We are looking for a Quality Control Manager. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

Quality Control Manager for our Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit, supporting the Protection & Automation Control Systems (PACS) line as well as the Customer Services (CS) operations for MV circuit breaker production, MV switchgear retrofit production, and LV MCC bucket production in Wendell, NC.

This role is focused on end‑of‑line product testing and outgoing quality control. You will manage the Electro‑mechanical Quality Test Technicians, who perform final testing and inspection of Industrial Control Panels (ICPs) and related assemblies, including nondestructive testing, troubleshooting, and preparation of inspection reports.

This position is dedicated to product‑level Quality Control, including internal final testing and customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).

The QC Manager acts as a catalyst for continuous improvement in end‑of‑line testing and outgoing product quality. You will drive a failure‑prevention mindset, utilizing key quality tools to support both proactive and reactive activity, with the overall goal of complete customer satisfaction and streamlined, efficient manufacturing processes. The QC Manager is responsible for promoting a culture that focuses on safety, quality, cost, and delivery within the QC and testing scope.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Leading a team of quality technicians, inspectors, and end‑of‑line testers to ensure the delivery of high‑quality PACS panels, MV breakers, MV switchgear retrofits, and LV MCC buckets to our customers.
  • Overseeing outgoing product quality, ensuring the final products shipped to customers meet design intent, specifications, and Siemens quality standards.
  • Owning the end‑of‑line QC processes, including final testing, electro‑mechanical inspection, nondestructive tests according to specifications and drawings, failure troubleshooting, and coordination of corrective actions.
  • Serving as the operational lead for Customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs): preparing test plans, coordinating test execution in front of the customer, demonstrating equipment functionality and performance, and ensuring any issues identified during FAT are documented and resolved.
  • Ensuring QC and test personnel are properly trained, qualified, and equipped with the necessary tools, documentation, and processes to conduct outgoing audits and end‑of‑line testing effectively and safely.
  • Ensuring appropriate calibration and condition of measurement and testing instruments used in final QC, coordinating with production managers to calibrate tools and equipment as required.
  • Initiating and managing product‑level nonconformance efforts related to final test results (e.g., test failures, after‑delivery nonconformance) and driving corrective and preventive actions with cross‑functional partners.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Production, and other stakeholders to address recurring test issues, improve test methods, and support continuous improvement of end‑of‑line quality processes, while reinforcing a culture focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience in quality engineering and/or quality management, with strong exposure to end‑of‑line testing or product‑level quality control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Competent to understand mechanical and electrical engineering theory and principles, including the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and prints.
  • Ability to understand and use measurement and testing instruments such as force gauges, calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, and basic multimeter readings; familiarity with electrical test equipment such as hi‑pot testers is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 management requirements, with the ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable quality standards within the QC/testing scope.
  • Knowledge of machining processes and a basic understanding of weld theory and characteristics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ certification (e.g., CQE, CQA, or similar).
  • Thorough understanding of problem‑solving and quality improvement tools (e.g., root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, structured problem‑solving techniques).
  • Previous experience in a metalworking or electro‑mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Salesforce or similar ERP/CRM tools.
