At Siemens Smart Infrastructure, we are a leading global supplier of products, integrated systems, solutions, and services for the sustainable, reliable, and efficient transmission, distribution, and control of energy.

We’re seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Protection & Substation Automation segment. This is a high-impact role with significant market potential, focused on driving growth across NSW and beyond.

The Opportunity

Based in Sydney, you’ll play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence across Protection & Substation Automation Products, MV Components and Channel Partners. You’ll identify new opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and strengthen key customer relationships - contributing directly to our growth strategy in a dynamic and fast-evolving sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking and lead generation
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve sales and revenue targets
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, engineering and product teams to align growth strategies
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to uncover emerging opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals and tenders
  • Lead negotiations and secure mutually beneficial, long-term agreements
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships across utilities, contractors and partners
  • Track and report on sales performance, pipeline activity and market insights
  • Contribute to tendering, pricing and commercial strategy

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline (highly desirable)
  • Proven success in business development, sales or a related commercial role
  • Strong understanding of sales strategy, market dynamics and customer relationship management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strategic, commercially astute and results-driven
  • Experience in tendering and pricing processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment

Highly Regarded Experience

  • Familiarity with Siemens protection and automation products such as SIPROTEC and Reyrolle protection relays, SICAM 8 RTUs and SICAM Power Quality devices
  • Experience in power systems protection and substation automation
  • Knowledge of renewables, protection philosophies, IEC 61850, process bus and digital substations

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a globally recognised technology leader and drive growth in a segment with enormous market potential. If you’re commercially driven, technically curious and passionate about shaping the future of energy infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.
