About the role:

Join Siemens Digital Industries Software's Simulation division as a Platform Software Engineer, shaping the technical foundation of Simcenter Amesim—our flagship multi-physics systems simulation software. This isn't traditional infrastructure work; it's a unique opportunity to drive technical excellence while coding 70% of the time.

You'll join our newly expanded Platform team, solving systemic challenges impacting our 50+ developers across five teams in France, UK, India, and Romania. Your mission: break down our legacy monolith into well-defined modules with clear API boundaries—critical for portfolio unification and AI-assisted development readiness.

This role combines deep technical work (refactoring complex C++, modernizing build systems, evolving CI/CD) with meaningful collaboration (facilitating cross-team initiatives, running workshops, knowledge transfer). You'll tackle foundational projects such as architectural modernization, dependency untangling, tooling improvements, and establishing API-first culture.

Success means enabling developers to switch tasks in hours instead of days, eliminating unexpected code ripple effects, and confidently adopting modern practices. If you're energized by multiplying your impact—improving the foundation for dozens of developers rather than just shipping features—this role delivers exactly that.

What you’ll bring:

Technical Foundation :

Extensive experience in software development with strong modern C++ expertise (C++17/20)

Solid software architecture understanding: modularity, coupling, API design

Hands-on experience with CMake, Conan, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab)

Proven legacy code refactoring skills—safely improving complex codebases

Qt framework knowledge

Collaboration & Leadership:

Facilitator mindset: Enable and teach others, not just solve problems alone

Influence through credibility: Drive technical change through persuasion, expertise, and collaboration

Clear communicator: Explain complex concepts to diverse audiences

Comfortable working across distributed teams, breaking down silos

Nice-to-Have:

Interest in systems simulation domains or engineering applications

Curiosity about AI-assisted development tools

Experience running knowledge sharing, workshops or mentoring developers
