Position Overview:

At Siemens Mobility Customer Services, reliability is not just a metric — it is a promise. Every day, passengers, operators, and communities depend on rail systems to be safe, available, and dependable. The mission of this role is to build and lead a world-class reliability organization that ensures our customers’ fleets perform at their best, every mile, every day.

The Reliability Solutions Engineering Manager exists to transform reliability challenges into lasting system improvements. This leader will build the team, the engineering systems, and partnerships - internally and with customers—that make world-class reliability a sustained outcome, not a one-time achievement.

This is a senior technical and people leader responsible for establishing and leading a high-impact reliability engineering function for coaches and locomotives. You will lead the end-to-end reliability journey: from early signal detection and root cause analysis, through corrective action.

Success in this role is measured not only by issues resolved, but by trust earned—with customers, field teams, and internal partners—and by the maturity of the team and systems built to prevent future failures.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Build and Lead - A High-Performing Reliability Team

  • Recruit, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of service engineers and test specialists.
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Build a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and pride in delivering reliable systems.

Scalable Reliability Systems and Processes

  • Design and implement robust workflows for issue intake, prioritization, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and validation.
  • Institutionalize best practices for reliability engineering, lessons learned, and knowledge reuse.
  • Leverage digital diagnostics, data, and documentation systems to shift from reactive problem-solving to proactive reliability management.

Customer-Centric Reliability Outcomes

  • Act as the senior engineering partner for customers on reliability performance, risks, and improvement plans.
  • Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights that build customer confidence.
  • Ensure contractual obligations (including TSSSA KPIs) are met while continuously raising the reliability bar.

Reliability Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the reliability vision for supported fleets, with world-class availability and performance as the north star.
  • Lead cross-functional reliability initiatives spanning Rolling Stock Engineering, Field Services, Digital Services, and Supply Chain.
  • Drive alignment between short-term mitigations and long-term design or system improvements.

Engineering Excellence

  • Oversee rigorous root cause analysis and corrective action development for recurring and systemic failures (e.g., HVAC, doors, propulsion, control systems).
  • Drive implementation of engineering changes, upgrades, and process improvements that measurably improve fleet reliability.
  • Ensure solutions are validated in service and lessons learned are institutionalized.

Stakeholder & Partner Engagement

  • Serve as the primary engineering interface for customer reliability escalations and strategic reviews.
  • Partner closely with internal leaders on priorities, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with senior leadership on risks, tradeoffs, and progress toward reliability goals.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a combination of education and Siemens relevant work experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in rail, aerospace, or heavy transportation industries.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading engineering teams.
  • Strong foundation in complex systems, reliability engineering, and maintenance practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across organizations.
  • Setting you apart from others would be a Master’s in Engineering with experience with Siemens rolling stock platforms (e.g., Charger Locomotives, Venture Coaches). Experience working directly with customers in reliability or service delivery roles and PMP, Six Sigma, or formal reliability engineering training.
