We are looking for a Power Protection Instructor. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
In this role, you will deliver hands‑on, instructor‑led training that enables customers and internal teams to confidently apply power protection technologies in real‑world environments. You will spend the majority of your time delivering established training while also tailoring content to specific audiences. This role is ideal for someone with deep protection experience who is energized by developing others and scaling their impact through training.
You’ll make a difference by:
- Delivering high‑quality, instructor‑led and lab‑based training on power system protection fundamentals and protection relay applications
- Teaching protection concepts such as CT/VT fundamentals, fault analysis, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting
- Customizing existing course materials to meet customer and internal training needs
- Supporting hands‑on lab environments and guiding learners through real‑world protection scenarios
- Collaborating with engineering, product management, and services teams to ensure training content aligns with product updates and industry practices
- Incorporating feedback and continuously improving course delivery and participant experience
- Participating in the evolution of training methods, including hybrid, digital, and AI‑enabled learning tools
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years of experience with the following:
- Power system protection across transmission, distribution, or industrial environments
- Protection relays and protection schemes from any manufacturer
- Commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of power protection systems
- Hands‑on use of secondary injection or test equipment (such as Omicron, Doble, or Megger)
- Explaining complex technical concepts clearly to technical audiences
- Willingness to travel approximately 5–10% for occasional customer‑site training
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience delivering technical training or mentoring engineers, technicians, or customers
- Background in utilities, power distribution, industrial power, renewables, or data center environments
- Experience tailoring training content for different audiences or applications
- Familiarity with digital learning tools, blended learning, or instructional design concepts
- Curiosity and openness to using AI or digital tools to enhance training delivery and content development

The pay range for this position is 74,970 - 128,520 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
