What will you do?

  • Support the systems engineering team in the design, analysis, and documentation of railway signalling and communications systems.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of technical drawings, system schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Contribute to systems integration activities, including verification and validation support across signalling and communications subsystems.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports, technical specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and industry standards relevant to railway signalling, communications, and control systems.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting related to system performance and project progress.
  • Participate in internal technical meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions with the engineering team.
  • Assist with interface management between subsystems, identifying and documenting technical dependencies and requirements.
  • Participate in field visits and site inspections to support systems commissioning and integration activities as required.
  • Provide general engineering and technical support to the Systems Engineering team across concurrent railway projects.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical, Electronics, Biomedical, or Computer Engineering program at an accredited Canadian university or college
  • Strong interest in railway signalling, communications systems, or safety-critical transportation technology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think systematically
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required; Visio, SharePoint, or Power BI a plus)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Willingness to participate in field activities and site visits as required
  • Willingness to support activities in an engineering lab environment

Preferred but not required

  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Exposure to networking, telecommunications, or embedded systems coursework or projects
  • Experience or coursework in systems engineering, requirements management, or verification & validation
  • Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, BlueBeam, or similar engineering design software
  • IT certifications or coursework (A+, Network+, Cisco or similar) are a bonus
  • Interest in safety-critical systems, control systems, or transportation electrification


Hourly rate is commensurate with experience, and ranges between $ 20.00 CAD - $ 25.00 CAD
