STATCOM Portfolio Lead Role

The Portfolio Lead will oversee the execution of STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) / SYNCON local and global projects within the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) framework. This role involves managing engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical and safety standards.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Lead portfolio of STATCOM EPC projects from tendering to commissioning.
  • Team Leadership Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Define execution guidelines, allocate tasks, and monitor performance.
  • Engineering Oversight: Supervise grid integration design of high-power reactive compensators (>100 MVAr).
  • Resource Management: Forecast capacity, allocate resources, and manage recruitment for project execution.
  • Schedule Management Develop and maintain project schedules, re-baseline when delays occur and apply techniques like Critical Path Method (CPM) and fast-tracking to optimize timelines.
  • Risk Management Identify risks early, maintain risk registers, and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Act as the key contact for clients, OEMs, consultants, and internal leadership. Build trust through structured reviews and transparent communication.
  • Contract & Claims Management Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, manage claims/disputes, and support negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Enforce company HSE policies, ensure site safety compliance, and provide visible leadership in safety culture.
  • Process Governance: Enforce engineering rigor, quality checks, milestone tracking, and change management.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track KPIs (on-time delivery, cost control, quality compliance).
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements across portfolio execution.
  • Financial Oversight Monitor project costs, Revenue and invoices, cash flow, and ensure alignment with contractual milestones.

v  Qualifications & Requirements

  • Batchelor /Master’s degree (BE/ ME/M. Tech) in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15–20+ years of experience in EPC/Power Systems projects, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Strong background in FACTS, HVDC, and grid-connected technologies.
  • Proven ability in team management, project execution, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in international project environments preferred.
