Position Title: Electrical Codes and Standards Professional

Location: Remote

  • This role serves as a key technical liaison between Siemens Industry Electrical Products (RC-US SI EP) and the electrical inspection community across the United States. The individual will engage with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), represent Siemens products and applications, and support the development and interpretation of electrical codes and standards that impact the business.
  • Potential to actively participate as a company expert and/or as an industry expert in the development of code and standard requirements with North American as well as international industry standards organizations such as NFPA and NEMA as well as UL, CSA, ANSI, ANCE, CANENA, and IEC
  • The role reports to the Director, Codes & Standards and is part of the RC-US SI EP Codes & Standards group. It combines external industry engagement, technical expertise, and internal advisory support to ensure Siemens products remain compliant, competitive, and aligned with evolving requirements.

You will make an impact with the following responsibilities:

  • Tactical Code and Standard work
    • Conduct training sessions on the NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, and other relevant codes and standards, primarily in conjunction with electrical inspectors
    • Provide feedback to the business unit based on knowledge gained during training sessions, visits, conferences, etc.
    • Assist with presentations internally to notify all stakeholders of upcoming changes that may impact the EP business
  • Strategic Code and Standard work
    • Identify codes and standards that are important for the business of SI EP
    • Help to identify areas of within codes and standards such as the NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, NFPA 99, that may be strategic, offensively or defensively, for Siemens Industry, Inc.
    • Monitor trends and actions in code development and, potentially, standardization efforts
    • Develop and present detailed proposals and substantiation for code and standard submissions which may include thorough statistical and/or technical data and analysis
    • Develop and present strategic responses to external proposals to support and promote the company's codes and standards policies and business strategies
  • Technical Support
    • Provide code and standard reference and interpretation support, as needed, to other groups within EP such as Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Sales, etc.
    • Provide proactive support and guidance on present and future code and standard requirements affecting the design, testing, or certifications of Siemens Industry, Inc. products
    • Provide code and standard identification, clarification, and updates, as needed, to various groups within Siemens as it relates to EP products/applications
    • Write and/or assist writing company-wide white papers, instructions, etc. documenting requirements regarding code and standard compliance
  • Standardization work
    • Support efforts to identify changes to a specific standard or set of standards
    • Help to identify key gaps between product safety standards and installation codes

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience (7+ years preferred) as an Authority Having Jurisdiction in the electrical industry.
  • 5+ years’ experience (7+ years preferred) as a licensed electrician in residential, commercial, or industrial markets.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, UL, CSA, and other Standards Development Organization (SDO) standards
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Siemens Electrical Products Business Unit or related products in, but not limited to, the following areas:
    • Codes
    • Applications
    • Standards
    • Product functionality
  • Ability to influence and work with others both outside and inside the company
  • Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for area of expertise.
  • Ability to understand residential, commercial, and industrial business markets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with customers, vendors, employees, and industry peers.
  • Confidentiality – assignments may involve working with representatives from competitors.
  • Team player who works well in a collaborative work environment.
  • ~50% domestic travel required
  • Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ICC, IAEI, or state certification as an electrical inspector and electrical plans examiner
  • Prior or current Siemens employment is a plus

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
