Then come and join our global team as Development Engineer (w/m/d) for mechanical processing and testing of semiconductor materials used in X-ray detector applications.

Choose the best place for your work – Within the scope of this position, it is possible, in consultation with your manager, to work mobile (within Germany) up to an average volume of 60% of the respective working hours.

This position is full-time or part-time with a minimum of 30h/week.


Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You will work in the highly innovative field of semiconductor technologies for X-ray detector applications and develop as well as optimize mechanical processes such as surface treatment, chemo-mechanical polishing, and wafer dicing.
  • You will analyze II-VI semiconductor wafers for intrinsic and extrinsic defects and correlate findings with sensor behavior.
  • You will select and qualify new materials, machines, and technologies.
  • You will establish innovative characterization processes and support their implementation in CT production.
  • You will collaborate with international partners in the field of semiconductors for detector applications.
  • You will prepare technical documentation, including analysis reports, process specifications, project reports, and validation records, and present your results both internally and externally.
  • You will work with interdisciplinary expert teams to initiate development and continuous improvement projects.

Your qualifications and experience:

  • You have a master’s degree in materials science, crystallography, physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or a comparable field.
  • You have several years of practical experience in semiconductor manufacturing, ideally in surface processing, wafer dicing or other wafer front-end processes (metallization, lithography, etching, etc.).
  • As an alternative option, you have a PhD in this field.
  • You are familiar with handling (toxic) hazardous substances.
  • You are experienced in specifying, procuring, and validating equipment and analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and Six Sigma is an advantage.
  • Ideally, you have experience in industrial crystal growth of bulk semiconductors.
  • Ideally, you have experience in the field of X-ray detectors.

  • Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken, complete your profile.
